Crypto & Music

So I have been following crypto for a while, and just curious about how many people here are familiar with cryptocurrency like bitcoin and ethereum. The crypto art (programmable art NFT) market is gaining momentum right now, and to the music, I first think of this community for its open mind and creativity, so if there is a means to help home-producers/labels/gear collectors/fans to showcase their work or tokenize your collection or creativity and at the same time you can earn some cryptocurrencies, will you be interested?

i used to buy bitcoin around 2012 but offloaded most of my coins after the debacle of the 2nd hard folk. now i only have a few in cold storage. i've never been interested in ethereum because of evm transactions costs being hefty- can't see how this would be viable for "crypto art" unless we're talking about some digital picasso here.

i read recently about ultra.io which is doing blockchain gaming but i think they'll be going the ethereum route- especially now that they've partnered with atari sa which also has their own money laundering plan coin.

2012 was a great time to buy bitcoin! I wish I did that early Lol.  Ultra.io is based on EOS iirc, but this is not about any platform, it is about digital or virtual assets, it can be an item in the game, or a creative idea, a sample you made or a piece of melody and so on. I agree with that a lot of projects are scams or money laundering plans, but there are some legit DAO/communities, I mean if we utilize these new tech well we may make the community more self-sustainable, at least WATMM probably won't need to ask members to donate.

Only thing I know about crypto and music is that I shared stuff on choon.co for it to suddenly disappear.

Long story short: Choon is bankrupt. Choon-artists are given the opportunity to sign up to Emanate. In addition they need to buy around $50 of their EMT cryptocurrency, to take part in the Emanate ecosystem. Both is needed to have a chance of receiving any revenue/investment on Choon NOTES back in EMT. It’s unknown what Choon-artists will receive in EMT, or when they can use an artist profile on Emanate.

lol sounds more like MLM than anything

this.. all the talk about connecting digital goods and services to digital currency doesnt fundamental change the way people have been using crypto > as an investment rather than for real economic exchange. its a circular economy / pyramid scheme as soon as the incentive to actually owning said currency becomes to get it and hold on to it and then hope to get out when its value goes up.

im simplifying of course, and there are probably people are trying to address this conundrum (any good examples??).  but im essentially very skeptical of anyones real intentions regarding crypto post 2018

too volatile a market for me. crypto is stressful, man!

earlier in the year i took a ~£150 profit from chainlink, only for it to absolutely skyrocket less than a month later - could have taken ~£4k! when i have a more stable income i'll probably work towards building another portfolio, but for now, i'm out. can't deal with the constant phone notifications when coinbase tells me something has gone up/down 15% every hour or so... i'll stick to my index funds

nice article

@cyanobacteria Curious if it's arguments temper (even slightly) your expectations about 'the next significant stage for humanity'

of course not

i am a technological base layer maximalist, and i don't care what use-cases exist now because i can imagine about a thousand use-cases related to cybernetic socialism.  its no surprise that the entrenched interests don't care about it because it's disruptive and it's also no surprise that its disruptive capabilities haven't been harnessed by capitalism because it's a flattening technology that removes centralized power and thus profit extraction capabilities.  it's hard to market technologies that remove power from groups and give it to individuals
