  1. I have no news or fresh intel to contribute, nor do I have any friends or family in the region. But based on my limited understanding, this is all Emperor PalPutin being salty about the collapse of the USSR more than three decades ago, and the fact that his global influence is waning. But I've been seeing an unprecedented level of internet solidarity with Ukraine in all of this - be it on YouTube, Reddit...even in No Man's Sky multiplayer last weekend. It appears the majority of Russian people don't even want this conflict. Hopefully Zelensky and his forces can hold the line in Kyiv and prevent it from getting captured. Putin and his regime have been in power in Moscow for more than two decades, and they've overstayed their welcome at this point.
  2. Mainly been playing Gunfire Reborn again lately. It's basically roguelike Borderlands minus the cringe. Pretty impressive weapon variety. Tried Metal Wolf Chaos XD last Monday also. The gundam/exosuit you pilot is pretty neat, but for a game from 2019 the SFX are pretty janky, not to mention the 2004 graphics. Pretty sure the game was meant to be satire to begin with though. Also got back into Duskers earlier this month. I think my beginner level online programming course has trained me to input in-game command lines more quickly. Also learning things I haven't before, like figuring out how to commandeer a derelict after clearing it out. Plus the game got another update just yesterday. And then No Man's Sky just got its next big update as of last week. So now there's more Sentinel types along with new Multi-Tool weapon attachments. Still trying to find one of the new Sentinel Nests.

Laughing Quarter is still an absolute banger, even a quarter of a century later. Something about that mid-late 90s era for Ae/Gescom in general...it was like a micro Renaissance.
  4. Yeah I just listened again a few days ago...still slaps 8 years later
  5. Finally back at it, after a long hiatus. Finished this new track just last night: https://ambermonk.bandcamp.com/track/yandere-pontifex Unfortunately for some reason I am unable to embed the BC player at this time. Regardless, I started writing this back in May thru July, but the last two weeks is when I've really been on the grind to finish it up. So here we are. Hope you guys don't find this one too cringe. Happy New Year.
  6. I'm considering playing HLD again on Switch this week as well. It's an underrated masterpiece.
  7. When they said Return to Monke, I didn't think they meant all this NFT bullshit.
  8. Started playing White Hell last night - an indie shooter which is basically Wolfenstein in post-apocalypse Finland. Figured it would be a good game for the holiday season. The graphics are pretty basic but the soundtrack is dope and the SFX are nice and punchy, plus there's a certain campy charm to it overall. I've kinda put gaming on the backburner these last few days though due to a project I'm working on, which I will announce in a separate subforum in a few more days once it's finished. Haven't forgotten about my Dank duties either - just been busy with said project.
  9. Looks like our dipshit mayor is getting national attention: https://www.dailykos.com/stories/2021/12/20/2070233/-Anchorage-s-anti-vaxxer-mayor-lies-about-turning-off-city-s-fluoridation-system-for-several-hours?detail=emaildkre Perhaps this is...Watergate?
  10. Oof. I could imagine the discomfort. Doubly so if playing in smooth motion.
  11. Dune: Part One I guess I'm somewhat late to the party. First time in a movie theatre since COVID hit. This is like...Star Wars, but more plausible in a real life scenario as well as IDM. Dune as an IP also predates Star Wars. It would be like if Nikola Tesla finally got his long-deserved recognition as the true father of modern electricity after Thomas Edison spent decades taking all the credit. Or is that an unfair comparison.. Whether George Lucas actually read the novel Dune though, I don't know. The similarities could just be a coincidence. Still, best sci-fi film I've seen in quite some time. I also happened to watch it on the 37th anniversary of the original 1984 film's release. It's given me much to think about.
  12. Successfully registered for an online course which is basically computer programming for beginners (based on Python). Doesn't start until another month from now, but it'll be my first university course since graduating a decade ago.
  13. There's still some slight jank to it, but it's by no means a low-effort product. In fact, the environments are highly detailed and there are Terminator 2 Easter eggs scattered throughout. Overall, I recommend.
