I'm subscribing to this thread to hear more of your thoughts as you progress. It's nice when people listen through something you've been digesting already. Like how I only tend to watch reviews for movies after I've seen the movie, it's interesting to hear other takes on things.

lol I'm not talking about it being challenging though. I just think they hit upon a perfect aesthetic that wasn't being done at the time and is seemingly completely inimitable. I don't want to say too much about it as I wanted to make a really long gushing thread like an article about it. I think if everything before tenderlove existed as SND and everything else was called something else, SND would be this perfectly sublime little audio artifact from the turn of the century divorced from anything else out there. The existence of Atavism highly dilutes that, though I do appreciate bits of it. I'm sure there were other glitch/clicks and cuts stuff at the time, but I've never heard anything that comes close to that SND aesthetic. Will gush later when I have time.

Tenderlove is good but it's not a patch on everything prior.

I've long been putting off making a thread with a retrospective of SND's early years and how perfect it is. Mark Fell's solo stuff falls too heavy into the art wank territory too often for me to properly enjoy. They really hit lightning in a bottle with everything before tenderlove though.

I think what clonks my bonkers about the Japan bonus tracks is they mess up the flow of the album. Maybe it's because I'm used to the UK tracklisting, but Medrey is the biggest culprit because it comes after a very definitive album closing track in Rsdio. Medrey is brilliant though and I would definitely have time for it being within Tri Rep, but where would it sit, flow-wise? I'm going to be controversial here and say it might be better suited as an album opener leading into Dael. I've tested it, too. Remove those last few seconds of silence and it works great. Please click here to sign my petition to make medrey the new track 1 for Tri Repetae.

m8, don't go telling me that MCR Quarter belongs at the end of Confield. It's brilliant but tonally has no place within Confield. I think there's defo scope for Japan bonus tracks to end up in misc compilatons bruvvvvvvvv

Ah this is lovely. I remember when I used to dick around with my music catalogues and do stuff like this. Good times. IMO Syptixed belongs in IV, Spiral. Sound palette wise I think it fits that era better, though admittedly it shortens III. It belongs right before twels.

I'm 31 and am an uncle to 8 kids. Maybe you haven't had enough exposure to babies throughout your life? I might have the reverse of the internal clock. I see people all getting married and I just feel jealous rage (as i type away alone in my bedroom on the internet :( )
