  1. ^ glad you dodged that bullet man! What the fuck? How wide-spread is weed use there? I couldn't imagine enjoying a pint and having sniffer dog units barge in, here in the UK, and the country smokes a shit ton of it. Yeah this is draconian, what the hell
  2. lol This is quality though, hope it goes well for ya! it's good to see that research into this kind of thing is actually being funded somewhere.
  3. This is the only Machine Head I know, pretty deece cover though:
  4. Experienced the same sort of thing myself. I also feel that listening to music on weed has allowed me to 'carry' that same super-intense analysis over into when I'm not stoned, like it was a little skill set that I first unlocked by being stoned. Especially with relation to being able to focus on just one element, whether it's the bassline or the tambourine in the right channel or whatever, and focus on it with that kind of laser-esque clarity you have when you're baked. Obviously it's not the same experience as listening stoned but I do think weed can really help you develop those skills.
  5. Looking for a good history of computing, any watmm-approved suggestions?
  6. Took a Nescafe jar full of tips from my old job (20p coins and under) to one of those Coinstar machines in Tescos and it came to 60 quid. 60! Taking the voucher the the customer services desk and getting it changed for three crisp score notes was immensely satisfying.
  7. Heh, in my head I still thought of Varg as being this super-skinny bearded Macaulay Culkin lookalike but it seems he's kind of filled out into a middle-aged survivalist-looking guy. Time marches on.
  8. Scooped one of these from Cash Converters today, it's an early '90s Nakamichi Cassette Deck 2: Very much one of their lower end models but internet consensus seems to be that even bottom-end Naks knock everything else out of the park in that price range. Originally went for £350 or so in the UK; I paid £70 for mine and I'm well chuffed with it. Took some jazz stuff I'd taped off the radio and it sounded lush, also took some Marvin Gaye stuff for a spin on it and it just sounds so lovely. Haven't recorded anything on it yet but I'm hoping to use it as an end destination for stuff I've recorded on the Tascam. The Portastudios record at half-speed to increase the quality so you can't play back a tape at the right speed on a regular deck, hence you have to mix down the final product to an external machine. Obviously I could just record stuff off the Tascam onto my laptop but that's no fun... Very much looking forward to fooling around with this wee deck. Hugely impressed by the sound quality thus far. Some external part of me is watching as I get progressively more nerdy about this stuff, lol.
  9. flol @ the Bob Ross one, literally had an episode playing in the background as I scrolled down.
  10. Haha, I remember seeing that when it was first uploaded and it periodically pops into my head when I'm making tracks or whatever "music... muuusic..." Also, on the subject of Portastudios/4-tracks, I've recently discovered this dude's Soundcloud, he does 4-track cassette stuff with a real '60s Ennio Morricone soundtrack/library music vibe and it's great: https://soundcloud.com/springreverb-1
  11. Just use your phone! See my post in the iPhone thread for why this wouldn't work (tldr; my phone is an ancient brick) I actually do have a lot of low-res photos saved on it from my late teenage and student years, there's no longer any memory left for new ones and I'm reluctant to delete the ones on it because they've got almost totemic super-nostalgic status now.
  12. This thread is leading me towards buying a camera I can't afford
  13. I actually really like Fenriz's almost forensic interest in metal and I've discovered loads of great bands off the back of it; part of what got me into Darkthrone and Fenriz was one of those videos where he's just talking at length about the kick drum sound off a Metal Church record. His enthusiasm/love for metal just shines through, same as where Legowelt's talking about some sort of obscure Japan-only FM synth or something *drinks the virgin's blood*
  14. Got the Tascam off eBay a couple of months ago, haven't actually had too much time to play with it but oh man, do I love it. The pitch knob is amazing and it's weird how many tunes I've recorded that turn out to have a 'right' speed where it just sounds so much better , maybe a little bit down or up a touch. The whole thing is just a vibe machine, even the act of slotting in the tape makes me want to make trashy black metal EPs, or crunchy '90s-style beat tapes, or weird bedroom psych opuses. Lovely for running sterile-sounding 808 samples through too, or wee soul drum breaks.
  15. All the guitar talk in this thread is making me want to do some deep practicing and get some chops going... Limpy, your guitar sounds lush as phook. Pics of my bedroom/ junkshop setup: Guitar, vinyl and basil plant nook:
  16. Technically a pic of my housemate's cat but here's wee Gizmo nonetheless:
  17. That Terra Tenebrosa record is great, sounds genuinely evil and fucking scary in places. The 2016 one is great as well, proper demonic gear
  18. Came here to post about the drawing competition, quality. Anyone else entering?
  19. Obviously only time will tell but I suspect you're not too far from the truth here
  20. That's amazing lol. Reads like some sort of chatbot spam thing or something.
