I think the gospel singers were the most fresh addition to his sound in a long time, and was hoping he'd incorporate that into the new album. Alas, no.

I wish they would remember their straight up groove-rock styles like Undertow etc. It's hard to imagine them as the band that wrote Sober or Stinkfist now. Too busy being introverted and progressive and putting samples of rainstorms in their songs. Who knows, new album might surprise....

For me, 10,000 days was Tool by numbers. Up until that point, every album was a great leap forward. But that one sounded like they were covering themselves.
