  1. Climax was a disappointment. Noe is repeating himself again. The philosophy card drops are stale. Superficial criticism on France, black men obsessing on anal sex, red tunnels, rape, mistaken killing, forced abortion, sexed-up shaved-head dudes, ponytailed brunette in low-cut top, brother/sister obsession, reverse end credits on beginning, stylized main credits in middle, upside-down cam, could go on. Is he capable of doing anything else? If I hadn’t seen the others I wonder if I would’ve liked this more. Maybe? But I have, many times, and therefore this was boring. Filmmaking team is lucky they got that MG US-theatrical deal through A24, who I’m sure saw this as a piece of business they could cut an easy trailer to. Which provided a confidence booster for global distributors, got everyone paid, and Noe lives to make another...
  2. Was in my Prius, threw these tracks on, hit Power Mode and ran a bunch of redlights. Goddamn great white knuckle tunes.
  3. You’re definitely going to want to go with the Elektron Model: Samples.
  4. Have the Drum on pre-order. Gonna take that and my Tb-03 to Tahoe and disappear for the summer
  5. His books are great, mostly all repeating the same idea, but it's a good idea. The man is one of the biggest assholes on the planet though, and having one good idea doesn't make you an expert on everything else. You should check out his twitter, it's pretty funny. Exactly. He’s got so many good points. On to Cloud Atlas!
  6. Read Taleb’s Black Swan and liked the half of what he was saying I could understand. If anything the book makes me want to read the news less, because it becomes clear that it’s a waste of time, but overall I can’t help think of NNT as an asshole. Then needed something lighter. Read Woman in the Window in a day. Well done - novelist made it seem effortless. On to Murakami’s What I Talk About When I Talk About Running. Short read so far and I like this personal slice of introspection from him. Need something sci-fi next.
  7. Saw every gaspar noe film on the big screen, including carne. Met him and had lengthy conversations twice. Pumped out some kids and moved out of a cultural hub. Have followed and wanted to see this well before Cannes 18. Now a24 releasing in a couple weeks but nowhere near me. So late. After every other territory already has for rental/blu-Ray. Now stuck with either buying multi-region or waiting for it to be released in summer on amazon or kanopy for free...in 4 months. Wasn’t until now that I developed a love/hate relationship with a24. Why so late on this one? Edit (accidentally wrote Exit): it’s my own fault for moving. I’ll have a mediocre screening of it on my 55 in plasma eventually. With poor sound.
  8. I tried watching this last night, but just couldn't get into it. It looks fucking interesting as hell, and I want to try again very soon... I just wasn't in the right frame of mind to sit through another Gaspar Noe film I guess. =/ Did you see in theater? I want to see but it doesn’t arrive till March and I don’t want to wait that long.
  9. 2 episodes into Maniac. Little quirky and on the nose for my taste but willing to see where it goes. Got 3 episodes into The First. I like the world but it’s such a predictable snooze. Not sure if worth continuing.
  10. Howdy there - have you tried chelated or coupled magnesium supplements? Most mag supplements are oxide or citrate form which are poorly absorbed and make you poo (think laxative before colonoscopy). Certain forms like glycinate and some of the other amino-bonded magnesium compounds are amazing for sleep and relaxing bruxism during circadian cycles.Appreciate the advice. I actually do take magnesium citrate daily but just ordered chelated instead to see if that makes a difference. Dentist is warning me it’s time for a mouth guard.
  11. Sleeping problem here too. Grinding teeth at night. Wake with headache in morning. Tried quitting the obscene amount of coffee I’m putting down for tea instead, but that was a hilariously misguided idea and not happening.
  12. Think a lot of people go through this, as I did myself. After 15 years in one profession, dedicating life to it, my thoughts on it radically changed. It was difficult accepting this. How could one steer a completely different direction after such dedication over time? It becomes even more surreal when it’s actually happening. You should take time to ask what’s best for yourself, and then take action, considering. Come to an acceptance of where you are and find ways to make yourself happy, or understand that life’s an adventure and none of it is all too important, so go for something different. It’ll be scary and exciting, and requires patience. I’m now in a different place both mentally and geographically and it’s rewarding in different ways. I have more time to make music and enjoy the outdoors. You’ll be fine if you decide to make a leap.
  13. Volca FM will arrive on Sunday. Was considering digitone but just liked the sounds of the volca more in YouTube vids, and figured it was time to get a rudimentary understanding of FM (from the couch).
  14. Puppet master the littlest Reich Makes some troma look good. Couple funny kills though
  15. Marc Weidenbaum on NtS: https://disquiet.com/2018/08/27/autechre-nts-sessions-1-4-listening-diary/
  16. Psychologically offputting camera angles in Angst. Very uncomfortable. Love it.
  17. Crickets in here for last hour. Is autechre relevant anymore?
  18. Bust for me. Listening from Tunein app and this ain’t no ae. Guess wires got crossed. Count me in the line of people who’ll respectfully request someone else’s recording.
  19. Considering selling my gear. Life is punching me in the dick as far as time goes these days. Work all day, deal with kids when I get home. No weekend because I’m watching the little ones while the wife works. Meanwhile, I hate not learning these machines, and just watching them collect dust. What am I saving them for - an imaginary time 5 years from now when I’ll have more time, but more powerful synths will be available to gas for instead? Moments from folding and accepting life is 15 minutes of Netflix before passing out, and any music making can be relegated to iPhone apps while on the shitter.
  20. Let’s sign! Lol congratulations!!!Thank you kind sir!
