  1. no croissants in Waitrose, yeah Waityrose, but they did have a slab of venison that was too good to turn down
  2. werent there special camera lenses developed for the candle-light interiors? its long, beautifully paced & luxuriously well made, ideal christmas downtime immersion cinema
  3. watching tonight post-christmas family chaos, no fkn idea what to expect https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rzyjf9oGBBU&t=1&cn=ZmxleGlibGVfcmVjcw%3D%3D&refsrc=email&iid=cbfc11634a584d088e4a62fb0ad1f19e&uid=16744954&nid=244+276893704
  4. bonus disc was mint plus cheers for the Art Life heads up, wasnt sure if it had been released & had all but forgotten after being blown away by the new series in itself, plus the time to process itself time off so 18 episodes is fkn on, onetimes
  5. new League of Gentlemen cued up & ready to rock, really hope its not guff & Papa Lazarou steps in somewhere Peaky Blinders, a new addition to insulting Italians spewed forth by Solomons, overall not too bad for the BBC but its still a fair few notches below the better programming from abroad, particularly the continental European contributions Invasion - plotting the migration patterns of folks arriving in Britain & Eire down through the ages. The presenter is a cock, but the genetics & prehistoric archaeology, the historical records through post-Norman medieval centuries & however they finish it are the stuff of Nigel Farage nightmares. Entertaining & educational, with very few jumper crimes.
  6. glorious bedlam that guitar has got some serious chuggggg too
  7. come to butthead, deep black stouts & porters were olde favourites
  8. I was thinking about this today (I think about it every day). mental health issues, far from being unusual or taboo, should be recognised for how normal and common they are. depression in particular. it is a normal reaction to observe the state of the world and the terms & conditions of existence (namely, that you can't really change anything and you're only here for a blink anyway) and, if you're somebody who has any empathy or cares about the common good, to become depressed about it. it's a human reaction. what matters is how you deal with that, not stigmatising negative thoughts as abnormal and outside of the ordinary human experience. we should instill in society the basic understanding that accepting your bad thoughts and dealing with them appropriately makes you a far stronger person than just trying (and failing) to aim for some constant bland positivity all throughout your life. edit: and this should be reflected in our institutions, especially in places of employment - people's mental health issues should be on the agenda in terms of professional development, not neglected by idiot managers as "that's for you to deal with, I just manage your work". normies who emphasise mindless positivity and repress their issues are the biggest nutters out there, and are often the ones who will trample on others/behave unethically to get what they want. i'm not quite sure how the Australian healthcare system works, but here its a fkn disgrace, the same thing would never be allowed to fester with cancer care, HIIV, or palliative care, yet the demographics show a sustained bias toward males mainly within an age range >44 that result in consistent fatalities its just all the unknowns such an outcome as someone walking off a cliff throws up & for the family even more so i've seen how effed up mental health care can be trying to access help for ptsd for years unsuccessfully, so theres an iceberg of untreated people continuing to stumble thru, being lied to because the system cant cope or is illusory to begin with in some areas as males, we're expected to get the fk on with it, whether theres a problem or not, because society's workhorses can handle it, until they cant & the organism cracks finding help can be as difficult as realizing help is actually needed & with this specific bloke he spent far too long being rebuffed by his GP (general practitioner) has someone gone after the GP now that he's killed himself? a complaint is being leveled with the local health authority, but whatever happens his wife will take it to the health ombudsman, the only independent oversight for medical failings & more often than not they only get tapped up after the metaphorical bollock has popped life eh
  9. the only answer to that is to up my fkn game & google around some of those Belgian beauties, reading it made this face
  10. buzzing, this is on the menu for 2nite after a recent revisit to Blue Velvet after an upgrade purchase on that front efaaaaaaaaaaaaas

  12. people with well disguised problems, with a wife & a nipper to look after, jumping off Avon Gorge 2 weeks b4 christmas 4th suicide of olde sound system crews in the last 18months, can people pls seek help or talk? not when their Dr repeatedly refuses to take someone's problems seriously male suicides are 1 of society's taboos & yet mental health care is an international travesty, ffs there has to be another way
  13. maybe should be tucked away in the Music section, but an enlightening interview with Deepchord's Rod Modell on sound design & audio engineering for someone who can traverse fairly effortlessly between deeeeepest of Deep House, Dub Techno & everyfin inbetween, it was intriguing to hear how he approaches making music & how things have both changed & conversely been sustained, individually & culturally, down thru the years https://www.xlr8r.com/features/2017/11/real-talk-deepchord/
  14. 150% Beer Porn, dayum some of these look lush, you can almost smell them thru the screen. Will treat myself to 1 from the old man's beer collection on Christmas Day cos abstinence only goes so far when Pops aint around himself any more to finish them off. Beer based stews n sauces are delicious when cooked out properly, slow cooker is gonna get a workout in the cold of January so you get the full range of flavour profiles without the actual booze hits. Works with all cuts of beef, lamb & acres of veg, chin-chin
  15. couldnt get past the fact there were supposed to be 400,000 blokes getting divebombed every other minute & yet the beach was in silence for the first major section of the filem, instead of chaos, anarchy & complete carnage there was Ken & his stiff upper lipped Naval cock, then the awful jingoists, Hardy doing his best Tom Hardy impression as per, the chronology was just a plot veneer. With hindsight, bit of insult to the people who had to experience Dunkirk in reality. Mother! - senseless chaos for the sake of it, when she did the decent "thing" i was fuckin relieved. Gonna have to watch less new filems cos there's so much guff flaunted as something meaningful & life is too short. Rugby Boys of Memphis - mint, take 1 of the world's best team sports like rugby & then fix it in 1 of its most unlikely nurturing grounds, a dirt poor area of west Memphis & watch the human potential come flooding out. Short but immensely effective with the Orange One's recent divisive bs. Gimme Danger - Iggy Pop all the fkn way...fun, informative & anything that can make you dig thru old records after watching is no small thang.
