Came here just to say: FOLDFREE CASUAL Literally almost crashed my car listening to this. Absolutely beautiful.
  3. SS2 is one of those games I keep meaning to play but never get round to it. What OS is your laptop running? I tried before on 7 and kept hitting game crashes. I'm on Windows 10 and it works like a charm so far. Don't expect much graphically. It's more the sounddesign that I'm interested in. It's spooky as fook.
  4. Just came here to say...System Shock 2. It's on Steam for less than £10 so well worth a try. Been patched and all so works lovely even on my shite 2009 dell laptop. SHODAN
  5. Doom metal/stoner/sludge seems to always do it for me. Slowly working my way through The Melvins debut - Gluey Porch Treatments.
  6. Yeah, this tune is incredible. Hoping that the next Actree release will be epic. Pretty much the reason I make music at this point.
  7. Thanks so much for posting. Absolutely adore all his stuff.
  8. I personally watch a lot of the vids put out by the Point Blank music school. I find the free stuff they put out to be so helpful, perhaps more so than taking lessons with them but I'm sure that's great too. Watched a set of these, his tips on eq and effects were excellent....Ableton based.
  9. It's all about the production really..I actually like the sound of Kanye's raps over certain beats....I didn't like this one. I think him rapping over madlib could be great though.
  10. Hah yes I remember being a teenager and buying a few Carcass cd's. And as you said, I found the artwork weirdly appealing. Back in those days I would buy albums on the strength of the album cover. Did it many times. And they were fucking expensive. Can you imagine? Funny thing is when I was a proper hardcore metalhead I never really liked Carcass that much (I think I was trying to push my boundaries some what). Put them on now 20 years later and I love them! Ha, dude, I feel totally the same. I think when I first heard it I decided that it was too much for me to digest at the time. 20 years later. Adore it. It's the sort of thing you are obliged to buy if you find on vinyl etc. Yeah, I like bits of heartwork, different genre really isn't it.
  11. I really like Carcass. Have been listening back to Symphonies of Sickness I probably only bought the CD when I was like 14 or something because I thought the album artwork was brutal and weirdly appealing. God such a good set of riffs. I listen to this in my car and can't help but laugh at the the 0:40 second mark but then the riffs are SO GOOD. But,
  12. Just to say this is sounding fucking lussh. Enjoy Floating Points full length http://www.factmag.com/2015/10/29/stream-floating-points-debut-album-elaenia/
  13. There is so much going on in each track though. I find it quite overwhelming, like I don't feel as though my brain is keeping up with the audible assault. BUT, I think that's a good thing, quite incredible music.
  14. I have the Zoom H4N and would say that it's doubtful you'll find something better at that price point. Despite all the Zoom hype though, I would say there are some negatives. The preamps can be noisy when you push them and you have to be quite careful about how you hold/place the unit as the plastic around it picks creates noise onto recordings. I also think the onboard effects when using it in multi-track mode leave a lot to be desired - I hoped you could download more custom ones but there weren't. For my purposes, it's perfect though. Just process after in your DAW.
  15. Just came here to splurge about Katiacid. My favourite so far I think
  16. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wTfmblwbwwQ Ripping vinyl from the One Love 12'' Single - This is probably the best track on it.
  17. Wow, this last one is really evocative of distant memories for me or something. I appreciate the guitar phrasing drifting over the top. How did you process the guitar sounds? Is it guitar? Thumbs up :)
  18. This whole channel is ace, I am now a fan of Brian lol they're such crazy videos. I love itMusic is cool too. Brian subforum plz Holy fuck. That's so weird and the music is kinda good too, I think. Reminds me of something - it's quite OPN right? Weird as fuck. Get my A*
  19. A classic, for sure. They've really returned to form as well recently; Mechanize is a great album. Oh interesting, I thought they'd just reverted to new metal crappy vocals, rapping over tracks shittery but cool I'll check it out....
  20. One of the first CDs I bought and I've been killing it in the car whilst driving recently. Cheesy as fuck in places but the guitar tone, drums and vocals and weird effects running throughout add to something that feels very unique even now (imo!)
  21. I have a really minimal setup and I'm beginning to think my gear lust (I want a microbrute) is actually based on something I don't need yet. Learn Ableton inside out and get to know my 'go-to' plugins etc and know them inside out.
