  1. i just found out this week that it's pronounced Asparagurs................ sike
  2. GTA in first person is really actually pretty disturbing. it looks like a hardcore murder simulator made by sick, sick people. i think that's kind of cool actually but something about shifting the view into first person hurts... it hurts your brain. it's like violent pornography, you know. something fucked up about the way the cops get killed at 4 minutes onward
  3. http://www.rockpapershotgun.com/2013/03/13/night-drive-euro-truck-simulator-2/ I need to get in on this. Tonight. i know this will make me sound like (and manifest as) a complete prick but this seems a bit "skyrim"-ish with the hype the game doesn't look that great. the crashes are phony and there aren't any pedestrians. then again its good that people are hyping a sim. maybe that will get more companies to invest time into it. I would love a really good simulator. the best games will be more like sims. the best games will be more like simulators! a favorite I have recently is Kerbal Space Program. definitely check it out if you haven't already. you build a rocket and launch it and try to land on the moon. it's absolutely fantastic. grade a shit. so much potential for chaos and unique things. thats what a simulator should do i think. this truck simulator looks nice but it doesn't look like there is much potential for chaos.
  4. i love the whole track. i truly don't understand why the last minute or twoa re a problem? it's one of their greatest tracks, ever. but i said negative things about Known(1) and can see why someone would feel differently! overally this album is just... blowing my mind. i'm in love. truly. it's a masterpiece. I think it is their most loving album, deep, beautiful even. it's very emotional, in a strange sense. where it is like madness, obscurity, but a heart that is very good is in it. despite the evil. i've never felt authechre like this and I am really just... happy to be feeling this album which is a monster in terms of musicality but most importantly is perhaps their most... loving and devout... release yet! strangely enough it makes me want to relisten to King of Limbs which may not add up. i caren ot!
  5. There is nothing more frustrating in my life in the Absolute than stupid teachers. No matter what I do or say to contribute to the discussion, the tone in his voice demonstrates to me that my contributions are not valued, and that I am not worthy. We have a 1 hour debate of the most mundane aspects of a text while the stupidest people in the class go over the most arbitrary and illogical points... it really makes me want to tear my hair out. But that's fine. The problem is when I want to participate to get the most out of the money and educational experience, and the teacher basically disregards my points. Now, not everyone there is stupid. I am exaggerating. Why assign difficult psychoanalytic readings if we aren't going to talk about them, and instead just fuck around the whole class about stupid arbitrary bullshit? And why is the teacher giving me shit when I actually try to bring up the deeper stuff? Never be the smartest guy in the room. Keep your mouth shut. I decided to listen through this book to try to understand how to communicate better. Maybe it was my tone of voice, or the way I was coming off. My lack of confidence. Surely those things are more important than the fucking point I'm trying to make about a complex topic when I speak. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=x4dxy46Ju7Q No matter what I do, this guy is going to fucking think negatively of me. There is literally NOTHING I can do. I've felt this with many people on the internet and in various areas of my life. Where they are just too damn stupid to catch up. But the truth now is that some kind of loving kindness meditation should solve the problem. It is quite difficult to do this however considering my disagreements. But it is clearly the correct way to go. I truly need to change how I deal with people!
  6. yeah I remember I saw Apollo 13 in theaters with a girl I had a crush on (cue old man music). Can't remember if it was better or worse than the To the Moon stuff. I do remember some scene where they're guiding their capsule by line of sight or some such. They have a similar scene of taking their bearings based on star position in To The Moon. It's stuff like that that really blows my mind. In the middle of space relying on (seemingly) ancient mariner type tricks and human eyeballing. Talk about balls. wait, what? if anything it's completely the other way around. agree, In Bruges was a grower, and the banter was great (career best from Colin Farrell?). 7 Psychopaths not so much. I made that comment with the specific purpose of provoking response. Because I know that's what its critics have been saying. I believe they are totally wrong. In Bruges was a good movie, I agree, a grower. But it has nothing to say, it's more or less just a "first film." It's not a great film, it's a very good movie but it's still just Tarantinoesque. This is way beyond Tarantino, it had flair, and actually had something to say. In fact, I would say the whole film was a harsh criticism of Tarantino as a director. It's a critique of Hollywood a la the Player. I find it disconcerting that more people haven't seen this, but also unsurprising given that most people these days fail to consider social critique when watching a film. If all you care about is dialogue, characterization, etc... then Seven Psychopaths is less than In Bruges. If you are considering the whole picture, it is superior. The film was not really that funny apart from when its criticism landed with direct placement. It was a moralizing film meant to provoke hatred in the viewer for its targets. The final 20 minutes of the film were extremely emotional for me and I find that if this was not your experience watching the film, then you were not watching it properly. In fact, I would go so far as to say that the narrative mechanism used at the end bordered on genius. The whole thing is a sort of mini-masterpiece, secluded in its own world. I'm not calling myself a "fan" of the director but its very possible that future films could go in the "right" direction (further down the art-path of Seven Psychopaths), instead of the "wrong" one (fun dialogue, entertainment, black comedy etc). All that said, the acting from Rockwell was fantastic, as well as from Walken. I wouldn't call it "great" as a film, but I must say I strongly prefer it to In Bruges and most anything else. It was sold as a "Tarantino funtime" by the critics and by Youtube but in reality it's an art film of sorts, kind of like Jarmusch but with all that pseudo-octane of a Tarantino film to reel you in.
  7. 7 psychopaths was way better than In Bruges (which was really just sort of a black comedy Tarantino knockoff... good introduction to the director but not a great film) this was a great film and it will be remembered as such
  8. had the single best fucking barbecue on the planet earlier now i am drinking great lakes christmas ale and listening to "living end" by Jesus Mary Chain and feeling cool "just like you knew it would" you can bet its a damn good drink either way if its mixed right. I get so wild on my motorbike
  9. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EEhTn0v7bDI FLOL. "this is the stage?"
  10. i can't wait to see this motherfucker exposed for what he is
  11. I find this thread on Reddit very confusing http://www.reddit.com/r/truegaming/comments/18pkd7/the_hype_train_has_been_released_by_bungie_are/ especially considering the excitement for GTAV... it's a fucking MMO isn't it? jesus, that's (objectively) far more of a change from Halo than you can say for GTAV! not sure how that logic works but OK
  12. yeah i can see him doing some good music in the future
  13. trainer era is some of the best electronic music ever made. definitely their best stuff
  14. somehow his being gay makes me totally ok with his success because at least he's not gonna steal your girlfriend or anything honestly i don't really care either way about ocean! fuck him! fuck all of em. boring!
  15. agreed. bunch of tossers signifying their own power through the empty and meaningless sign of "already hearing Exai"
  16. i'm pretty sure Autechre, BoC, and Aphex Twin all expressed strong fandom of MBV... at least 2 out of those 3 as well as Meat Beat Manifesto and Chemical Brothers, Seefeel and pretty much anyone who likes music
  17. it actually is legitimately stupid to announce a finished album that far ahead of time and release promos that far ahead of time stupid nothing you can say will convince me otherwise
  18. Anyone could just as easily parody AE's production style as you did with that See on See remix... it's not really an argument against the music.
