  1. soundcloud comments by richard, see earlier last couple pages
  2. well when you barely have to do any of the fighting in Europe and can jump the fuck in like a fire sale and take half of Germany even though Russia did most of the work domination is a very temporary state. Domination based on poorly constructed heroic myths don't last long. But we dropped a nuke on japan so i guess that was pretty badass and dominant but also deeply cowardly and genocidal
  3. i think the parody reached its peak about here : after that was around the time it surpassed parody
  4. oh really? I'll take your word for it that bill hicks is still alive. If I find out otherwise that's one more strike against ye! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=31UrDpfM2Lc
  5. "more additional" very fucking excited for this me too, but im hoping his next one has some faster programming happening especially in the drum department. I was expecting the EP to blow away squarepusher's music for robots (especially after Richard was knocking it a bit) but I was underwhelmed in the sense that for robot controlled drumming, most of the drumming (if not all of it) could have sounded the same if played by a human. Squarepusher or Aphex needs to make the first drill and bass track played on an acoustic drum set soon imo. ITs still very interesting for what it is (instead of what i expected it to be) but its hard not to feel like its a semi missed opporunity
  6. zero basinski effect with this one, totally on the wavelength bruh translation: i like it and i'm not going to aggressively or passive aggressively talk shit about it non stop
  7. its surreal to think He-Man was based on a psychosexual campy scifi movie by boorman
  8. the fact that the Wire magazine and the pitchfork circuit hasn't turned this guy into the next Lil B is a tragedy of reverse racism
  9. Yeah, I posted this too when the track was uploaded. This was the file (including ID3-tag) he must've sent to Future Music, sending it through that adress to stay anonymous for Luke and FM. somebody bored needs to go back and make a compilation of every Elusive post related to aphex now, he knew more than any other 'rephlex insider' in the history of public postings on the forum.
  10. i dont know, i never really thought iron man was a particularly strong part of the marvel cinematic universe. I was pretty much a 'hater' since the first iron movie tbh, and i couldn't even make it through the Ed norton hulk . Until i had seen Thor and the Avengers I wasn't really convinced the connected marvel universe would work in film form. I almost would have preferred them go a more campy route and have Hank Pym from Ant Man do it like in the original comic.
  11. the old man inside me is still very impressed by auto photo panorama technology
  12. did u see the one before it? I was extremely skeptical of it before seeing it especially after the New 52 debacle but Bruce timm has pretty much done the most interesting reinterpretation of the characters i've seen since Flashpoint paradox. Can't wait to see the actual movie. Also didn't mind the extremely obvious Alan Moore Miracleman homage style in which this short concluded
  13. Jamie XX, and the band the xx, has a decent overlap with Four Tet, Caribou, Burial, Gold Panda, and Hot Chip for a a lot of reasons: Thom York being a fan, same circles of PR, management and booking connections in Brooklyn and London, also many of these artists I mentioned went to the same school. On the surface, I get the Zomby comparison, though I'd say he's more hyped from his musical novelty and absurdly bullshit persona. I had a very very gradual liking of both Jamie XX and the group xx in general, specifically because of their rapid rise to fame & acclaim, but i can say the same thing about Washed Out and Grimes, who I also adore. The music Jamie XX is making isn't groundbreaking but it's well crafted and sincere. Most electronic producers his age with this much popularity are putting out EDM drivel. The ones doing decent stuff that's left-field or experimental with any kind of mainstream influence are guys like I dunno, Arca or Evian Christ, and the amount of pretentious circle-jerking around that scene is hilarious (see Future Brown's reception) compared to the PR machine behind this. I see, I guess being the old fuddy duddy I am it's still fascinating that a band from 2009 is talked about in such a way where one imagines they've been around seemingly forever or for at least an entire decade releasing music. I guess 5 years is a long time? Keep in mind that I intentionally have unplugged myself from almost all music press
  14. the newer sounding Cheetah track sounds straight up Syro to me, that twangy funk synth at the end is out of control it has a really weird timbre to it
  15. the way ultron and the vision acted and were portrayed on screen overshadowed everything else in the movie for me. Even captain america, who i really started to dig after Winter soldier was demoted to his caricature status from the 1st avengers. I agree the script was a mess as a whole, individual parts of it i thought were good though.
  16. he pretty much admitted that it was a disaster in a very polite way. He said the first day of shooting they only had the one actress (who played scarlett witch) because 'everyone else was having babies' to film the very last act of the movie on the floating city. As soon as he yelled 'action' Joss Wheadon experienced panic because nobody on the movie team nor him actually imagined or mapped out what Scarlett witch's powers were supposed to do or look like on screen. So in terms of why the movie's CGI looked so piss poor/lazy and rushed I'd wager that he actually didn't have the resources or time to actually stage properly the scenes which would have CGI added to them (compare Elysium's effects to Avengers Age of Ultron, elysium looks like it came out ten years later). Another part of the reason why the action looked coherent and visually goot in Avengers part 1 is because almost the entire city of New York set was redone in cgi. A lot of the action in Age of Ultron takes place on real/non cgi backdrops where it doesn't look properly blended.
  17. haha nice basimilus iteritas is only like 8(?) months old a year old which makes that a new ass track https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OrwnwMci5gc
  18. only in 'Merica can you watch police harassing people in 60 frames per second at 720p 1080p (same as video posted above except in ridic high quality)
  19. i watched the walking dead premiere right after i first saw Day of the Triffids and it kinda ruined walking dead forever for me tbh edit: wait i dont think thats the one i saw, it was a miniseries
  20. last time i looked at a pg1000 it cost more than both the d50 and d550 i saw at the same time (on ebay) so i can understand not absolutely needing to pick one up. Midiquest probably does the trick fine though, most of the Yamaha and Roland synths from that era work pretty well with a few different software editors (sounddiver is another)
  21. the fact that this isn't an Autechre album cover already is a huge tragedy lol
  22. just watched Mothman Prophecies again. tonally its got a lot of problems but its one of my biggest guilty pleasure movies. Its hard to find a mainstream film that captures the better atmospherics/suspense from good X-files episodes and this definitely hits the mark for me.
  23. it's really hard to consume that much cactus even if you try to boil it down to just a liquid, if you have access to actual peyote it's way more concentrated/much easier to prepare & eat yeah but a trippable button takes 2 years to grow, if you can even get those microscopic seeds to sprout. SP seems more convenient. i havent done mescaline at all yet though. it seemed like the user was asking based on having (at least from how i read it) already trippable sized buttons. if he doesn't San Pedro is still honestly just a bad idea. I'd try Murphythecat's Peruvianus idea before moving to San Pedro. If you are feeling lazy and want to do it on a whim then San Pedro can probably be found at a local gardening store, so for that reason its convenient, but if you can get Peruvianus it's about 2x as potent as San pedro, 3x in some cases. This is all assuming you don't have to grow it from scratch or a cutting, in my experience Peruvianus is a little harder to grow than San Pedro
  24. im having the 'Basinski effect' with this one, meaning that I feel i'm supposed to know or understand that Jamie XX has some kind of important body of work or legacy, yet I am 100% completely unaware of this and have approached the album just any other new act electronic record, and approaching it like that it kinda sounds like what Zomby was doing on Where were u in 92 with a much higher budget and team of people.
  25. how do you like the D50? ever try one of these - ive been tempted by the combination of the two for a few years (D50 or 550 as synth + pg1000 controller), but im torn between the idea of getting something like this and just nabbing a cheap JD800 instead
