it depends on what iteration of it, the minidisc players I used to own were on par with a 256kbps variable bitrate, but in the sense that it sounded different from mp3 compression i would agree it generally sounds better.

talking about Hi-MD? i've never seen one and now that i know they exist i'm curious about getting one. As much as its convient to have SD recording ability these days, there's something nice about just being able to save a bunch of minidiscs and know you're probably not going to accidentally erase them ( i think aphex mentioned this dilemma in the syrobonkers interview about having a phobia of accidentally deleting your own recordings, which ive done multiple times to my horror. )

it would almost have to be, i mean Analord in general sounds CD quality to me id be surprised if it was recorded in a lossy format, but its possible. I know ATRAC also varies, sometimes its the equivalent of 192kbps, sometimes 256kpbs just found this in a PCMag article about the death of minidisc the date lines up for Analord somewhat, but have no idea how popular this format was or if thats what richard was talking about

if you do all the steps through different companies (jackets, mastering, plating, pressing) there isn't much of a wait at all (im in the US not in europe so this could account for the difference) if you find the right pressing plant. Maybe the one they use is just experiencing backups right now.
-
very strange if it was, since minidsic has ATRAC compression similar to early attempts at encoding 'high quality' mp3s

Mark Fell - The Neurobiology Of Moral Decision Making
awepittance replied to jlobkob's topic in New & Upcoming Releases
Agree, it sounds completely Lazar aside from added percussion (which could really be subtracted without damage), it was also recorded in like a day. In principle it's very similar to the earlier collab with the violin guy Sandro Mussida that Fell did for his new 7-inch label: Fell does the drum machine treatment on top. huh -

how are u watching it when its not even aired yet? nah, that's not fair. 30 rock wasn't your usual paint-by-numbers network sitcom. maybe not paint by numbers, but still more generic networky than shows like Malcom in the Middle which fox was airing decades previous first two episodes of R+M have leaked. Malcom in the middle was generic network bulshit, 30 rock was a good bit more subversive, even if it wasn't hugely subversive objectively speaking, I would put it in a different category... you really think 30 rock is better than malcom in the middle? i have a hard time with that premise, but fair enough. A lot of people i know love the slew of network TV attempts to be not shitty, i just never got into it. Parks and Recs was especially dismal

Mark Fell - The Neurobiology Of Moral Decision Making

sounds great, but it doesn't sound like a collaboration, it sounds just like a pretty decent Fell workout -

it still feels very much like a network TV show with a teensy slight 'edge'. I never really saw shows like 30rock and the whole slew of shows that followed in a similar format to be any better than normal network tv comedy.

i didn't get that from looking at it and knowing myself if there was any resemblance to a vagina i would have noticed it immediately. to me it looked like the insulation foam that used to have the pink panther slinking around in the commercial

the new imprint / vinyl 10" theme tells me this is only the first installments in a nice series we'll be getting semi regularly. Looking forward to what the next ones will be

i think a classic yamaha FM engine with a lot of hands on and performance control (like automation recording or parameter locks) with a drum track and multitimbral mode of about 4 different synth instruments could be new enough that it would be badass. Something like a volca that kicks its ass and makes us forget forever that not so great trademark Korg filter sound.
