  1. http://www.discogs.com/Levantis-Believe/release/5104740 Sounds a lot like Actress although I've never seen it confirmed to be him. It's much better than Ghettoville that's for sure.
  2. Gave this a first 'proper' listen yesterday, I had to turn it up pretty loud to get anything out of it and even then not much was going on. I don't mind emptiness per se but this seemed boring, like it took half the album for something other than silly noises to even happen. I'm going to keep on listening to this for a while but if I hadn't already bought it I'd have probably given up at this point.
  3. I think I remember reading Hazyville's getting a standalone CD repress at least, not sure where I got that from. It's up for pre-order on Amazon UK but with a release date of December 31, 2014.
  4. I liked this better when it was just a dude slowing down and looping sections of songs he particularly enjoyed.
  5. Does anyone recognize the samples / know if the rimshot thing is from the same track as the vocals?
  6. I got the tingle again today while someone was vacuuming and now I'm about 75 minutes into this:
  7. flol Yes!!! Anyone ever seen that 10 second pizza pyramid video? Can't find it. lol, I can't liek type mah feeelins Musically, it's like that best bit in Dayvan Cowboy stretched out, in an unapologetic manner, and those drum fills and rather stupid strings come in. I'm not the only one hearing that, right? I was hearing this:
  8. Pretty sure it's a him, unless there's a stand-in for pictures.
  9. I can't mark more than one post as the answer apparently. Thanks both of you!
  10. Checks out: 'Guido The Killer Pimp' only takes its very beginning from 'Cloudburst Flight', but 'Lana' is almost directly lifted from 'Force Majeure', nice to hear its continuation. That leaves my favorites 'The Dream Is Always The Same' and 'Love On A Real Train (Risky Business)' as the exclusives, which is what Alcofribas was saying earlier. So this is probably it, unless those two showed up on another release after all.
  11. One time watching the movie, I kept expecting 8:07/5:23/Maiden Voyage/whatever it's called to come on, and only realized about half an hour after the movie had ended that that's a Global Communication track. In other words, excellent rip-off. I don't think I would've made the connection to your own track myself, but I can hear it now that you've primed me. Ugh, a lot of the Risky Business LPs seem to have two of the best tracks shortened. I love the album art on them but maybe I should just buy a CD to make sure I get the full 'The Dream Is Always The Same' (3:43) and 'Love On A Real Train' (3:58), they're short enough as it is.
  12. Right! "No Future (Get off the Babysitter)" is part of Exit (the title track), it plays so quietly in the movie that I hadn't even noticed before. About Love On A Real Train, I only just found out browsing YouTube that it's TD's interpretation of a Steve Reich piece. May be common knowledge, but to me it's like I'm hearing alternate versions already.
  13. I've been digging this era of Tangerine Dream lately, the soundtracky 80s stuff from Exit onwards. (Not that I've heard that much of what came before, really only Phaedra and Rubycon, but I've read that Exit marked the shift in their style.) Their tracks on the Risky Business soundtrack are some of my absolute favorite Tangerine Dream, and I was about to go buy a copy but then saw this in the Wikipedia article: Is there any truth to this, specifically that the original/longer versions were not only previously recorded but also released, and if so: which release(s) are they on?
  14. I don't have FB but if you mean the Ultrademon album I think that one is commonly regarded as a Rephlex release mostly because of the 'fake label' + SRD distribution. I'm sure that's come up in the Seapunk thread in New Releases.
  15. Yeah and to be fair he credits (at least some of) the sources on his website too, that's how I found this one.
  16. Cool. Daunting site until you find the 'In English' link, lol. Total incl. shipping was just within the boundaries of what customs here consider 'negligible' so I went for it.
  17. Did you get this as files or on CD? And where from?
  18. Salvatorin, that's a great track. I don't know maybe it's time to try Splazsh again. I got Splazsh and R.I.P at the same time and I think my instant preference for R.I.P might have given it an unfair advantage. I haven't spent nearly as much time with Splazsh. Still, I always assumed I would like Hazyville better but put off getting it because that reissue was in the works (and has been for at least a year I think).
  19. Splazsh never quite clicked, but I still find myself liking R.I.P more with each listen. I don't have Hazyville yet but I like what I've heard of it better than Splazsh, so I'll probably end up with that boxset.
  20. I've disliked my username for years but I can never think of a better one, plus I've noticed we can't change our display names anymore anyway.
  21. oh man thnx for posting. this is good watching, i think i think (some of my favourite docos are Gates of heaven and American Film, king of kong,....) Maybe someone should start a ' Good documentaries about not much thread' or something. Yep, very cool documentary, thanks. That story about the "Disco Duck" immediately reminded me of one of my dad's 7-inches that I loved as a kid, "Ronald And Donald - Couac Couac". I need to dig that out now, I was practically crying just listening to it on YouTube, it's so silly but it's part of my life. I remember we wore out the sleeve and stapled together a new one, with the drawing cut out from the original and glued to it. More to the point, I think the same obsolescense is happening with pop CDs right now, I've said it before but if you look in megastores and the like, many of them are cheaper than files these days. Only a matter of time before they will be regarded as completely worthless. Makes me want to go shopping. Meanwhile, vinyl is more expensive than ever.
  22. Why is he wearing his coat? Anyway, interesting video and I agree with him, although I do kind of like the sound of the Disintegration Loops per se. Don't quite get what he's saying about the delay, is his observation just that the delay/echo was applied over the pops and other degradations, or is he saying that there's no tape 'disintegrating' at all in these recordings? I've never even seen a reel to reel in person so I wouldn't have any idea what it's supposed to sound like when the tape goes.
  23. What was the point again? (Maybe Lawrence Fishburne can put on sunglasses and enlighten us) I'll try to put it succinctly, even though someone is bound to disagree and I'm not really looking for a discussion, but I think: the question is not whether he is a replicant, but whether he is human.
  24. Damn, you shoulda mentioned the name of the Studio 1 remixes, your pictogram's broken. Assuming that's the Discogs release number in the JPG, it should be this: Thomas Brinkmann ‎- Studio 1 - Variationen
