  2. I was a habitual smoker for a couple of years when I was 17-19 but in retrospect it wasn't my thing. For me the whole experience of being stoned is dominated by the feeling of being incapacitated, which is fine when you're alone or with a few close friends but all too often it ended up making me anxious in more public places. It's the same sort of thing I have with mushrooms which to me are a serious psychedelic yet buddies of mine will eat them and just think everything is "funny" and go to a bar or some shit. Alcohol for instance incapacitates you too but when I'm drunk I'm not as acutely aware of that. It's probably ravaging my internal organs but at least I'm having fun, right? I'm already semi-anxious sober so I prefer something that loosens me up. Booze and weed combined were fun but that combo tended to make me sick a bit too easily. Chronic smoking also blunted my emotions, ever since quitting I really enjoy being emotional, whereas before I just took that for granted. P.S. lol at the beginning of that last sentence.
  3. 'Southwest British Airways' and 'Satierian Moon Breeze' sound great from these clips.
  4. I just realized this is a two-year-old thread dug up by usagi yesterday but I've got to ask: is/was this your Capri, BCM?
  5. I don't usually partake in these sorts of things but I'm not a misanthropic cunt either (I hope) so what the hell, have a good one all.
  6. I know I can't be the only one who regularly lands on this page by mistake: Still don't know what the deal is with that slanted pixel trail around the picture.
  7. Nothing wrong with The Paranormal Soul but Crystal Cult 2080 immediately struck me as a more complex and deep album. So, it's a bit puzzling that it's not getting more praise from those of you who are saying he doesn't try very hard anymore. Do you feel like he ended up making it too dense and foggy and therefore indistinct or something like that? We're all mostly guessing here but it sounds to me like he put a lot of effort into that album. Either way, I think his albums have been getting better and better (Crystal Cult 2080 > The Paranormal Soul > The TEAC Life) regardless of the effort involved. And it seems like there's an interesting harder edge to his tracks that's been developing lately. Some of the drums on Crystal Cult 2080 hit pretty hard, see also Pagan Sector, Lords Of Midnite, the fact that he spun so many old "hardcore" techno (not gabber) tracks in that recent DJ set of his, etcetera... He did go through a phase a few years ago where I wasn't exactly enamored with everything he was doing but to me he has gotten more interesting again.
  8. "basically I just used five channels all the time"
  9. He clearly fell out of love with italo but whatever, I like his evolving style and I don't really hear the alleged laziness in his newer stuff either, especially not the Legowelt alias.
  10. I think he's reasonably well-liked here but not to the point where we need a subforum, and besides his style seems a bit left-field compared to WATMM's typical braindance focus. I've been into his stuff for longer than I've been into most of the "featured artists", but he'd be an odd addition to that list. Starting threads in Music Discussion for every little thing he does would be nuts obviously, but that thing we do where the minor Legowelt related news gets posted in whatever the latest big Legowelt thread is, seems to work well.
  11. doesn't relate to syro, circlont14 is darker then bloody hell That track to me is all about fun, with its ludicrously jazzy basslines and vocals about little socks. But a lot of people seem to get a darker vibe from it, not sure what's going on there. 180db_ is another weird one, despite all the aggressive sounds it's probably the most stupid fun track on the album.
  12. Wake us up when non-shit record stores start stocking these. Until then I'd say the first sentence in Enty's post nails it. Also, lol if you genuinely think there aren't any dub techno 2x or 3xLPs that aren't hit and miss.

  14. Probably my favorite thing noise has done yet anyway.
  15. I've had it on repeat in the car almost continuously since release day, got to be somehere in the neighborhood of 50 plays now. Not getting bored of it either, I'm still getting more and more familiar with it I think. I listen to other stuff at home but on the road anything but Syro just feels wrong at this point.
  16. I still want one with Joyrex's 'King of Clubs' Caustic Window art sometimes. As for the syrobonkus print, I can't imagine it surviving an encounter with a diamond stylus. Considering the way the intaglio process works I'm not even sure whether it has the actual grooves or the negative of them, like a stamper? But maybe that's been answered somewhere already.
  17. I wanted to like this from the get-go because of the theme, the artwork, and the "gold" vinyl thing, but wasn't feeling the music until today. Listening to the entire thing for the third time via Bandcamp I suddenly loved it, strange.
