  1. deckard dream scape b. pretty believable given how the track sounds, and sean played some stuff on the radio streams that indicate he's into that era of synth music (vangelis, tangering dream)
  2. agreed. i said (accidentally in the sign thread) that 7FM ic was early fav but I might have to change - ecol4 on headphones just completely blew me away
  3. 7FM ic has swagger for days.. immediate favorite track. it can also join frane casual on the 'sweeping the floor' playlist
  4. what news to wake up to! just starting the work day here though.. browsed the samples (tasty) but will save a full listen for tonight. THX/SEAN/ROB pretty convinced it was the Find the Bathtub thread that pushed them over the edge to release it. thx @Squee
  5. bump because its fall, time to listen to this fantastic ep (and the rest)
  6. its not his erratic mannerisms that bother me (i just hope he's well, and frankly we already have a president who cant make a coherent sentence so it clearly doesnt impede "leadership") its his actual ideas (and ego), hinting at theocratic dictatorship, that are worrisome. he pivoted a political question into his idea of a badass mega choir, which he presumably thinks could "heal" the nation? he wants to be the center of everything and also projects his own ideas of success and healing which are super wack
  7. I need to rip this video into an album.. will probably do that later.. I just gave it another listen today, and the pitch bendy tuning stuff going on in Piece 5 is sublime
  8. @Alcofribas @fumi imo the opn track is a very well crafted pop-ballad type track. the melody is quite catchy and the oddball flourishes are what he brings to the table better and different than any other producer imo; its only 'unimpressive' if youre wanting it to be something else. every artist constructs the rules for their own music making and i think youre doing them a disservice by attributing it mainly to outside pressures and 'being big'. like i can pretty clearly trace the trajectory of his interests into this current material, which is sort of what 80s pop music (audience-facing, mtv-airing type stuff) could evolve into. i also disagree with your assesment of tim hecker as i think he has consistently managed to find new facets to explore within his sound, but that's an argument for another fan-fiction- er, thread. lol i do get where your criticisms are coming from btw, as i also listen to newer opn way less than his older stuff.. but its kind of a matter of taste no? because i would bet layering up juno-60 loops certainly took him way less 'craft' than making a more fleshed out 'song', but we connect with that more abstract approach
  9. I still havent had time to give it my undivided attention (autechre..) but have really liked all the previews. Funny how the preview track hyptic jerks might be my least favorite. That kick is just...
  10. Thanks for the tip... i also like to keep my digi collection crisp and those bandcamp ones are just that. I do find it interesting how LP5, EP7, Chiastic (among others) are physical media scans, while Tri Rep looks to be a digital source.
  11. Wow!!!!! .215061 from AB3.. in really fk'in nice fidelity. So excited if more like this is to come
  12. Im sure itll come (next probably). Mush records put out both hand cranked as well as vignetting so looks like warp picked up the rights to his back catalogue. Vignetting also never had a vinyl issue, so im sure youre not the only one who wants a copy. Hand cranked is just barely my favorite because it is a bit more abstract and a more consistent sound bath. But i also love Vignetting.. I have some veeeeeerrrry fond memories of listening to The Ephemeral Bluebell with friends - parked by the ocean at night - windows open - getting high before going on a walk. That song is absolute perfection of the technique of overlaying forwards and backwards looped guitar.
  13. Heeeere comes a 13 year bump! Warp will be reissuing Hand Cranked LP for the first time since its initial release. Its my personal favorite bibio album. A hard to define collection of guitar tracks that verge from straight faced folk to rather hypnotic psychadelic loops. I vaguely remember lurking watmm at the time of this thread and its funny to read it back again.. After his debut album Fi, bibio was often talked about (at least here on watmm) in relation to BoC, but with Hand Cranked, imo he stepped firmly in new territory of his own. Its a very unique album and I highly recommend giving it a listen! https://bibio.co/
  14. "crowded market".. fuck off guardian. sounds like that spotify ceo´s comments about musicians having to adapt to (his) market https://www.theguardian.com/music/2020/oct/16/autechre-sign-review-warp
  15. my gf and I had a nicer nonstick pan (a step up from baseline department store fare). And then one day we came home and our roommate was literally scraping it clean with a fork.. we talked with her but she had been doing it for a while, the damage was done keep telling myself ill get a cast iron someday but never get around to it
  16. i gave a listen to both those rhcp tracks again (probably first time in 15 years) and both solos are great.. chill af and fits the songs perfectly. back to the album at hand, im not liking brand e nearly as much as the other 2 preview tracks..
  17. Hopefully someone else has more exhaustive knowledge, but from my limited dive> The previous release under Placid Angles is also great - The Cry (1997) Ten Days of Blue (1996) is amazing, a classic ambient techno release. But sidenote; John recommends not to buy the reissue or digital from Peacefrog records, in what seems to be an unfortunate / exploitative rights-holding situation. Read https://www.residentadvisor.net/news/42370 He has lots of stuff @ https://johnbeltranmusic.bandcamp.com/releases, i woud also like someone to give me a primer. There are a few other watmm threads for recent releases, can consult those
