Yeah, I second that 'force yourself' method. It's worked for me many a time. All sorts of unexpected yet quite fruitful results abound.

The latest batch may be the most consistently awesome so far. Not that the other track dumps were disappointing by any stretch --far from it.... but the last 20 or so have all really hit the spot for me.

I can't stop tweaking my mixes long after I thought they were finished, which leads to less work on new material. On the up side, my favorite tracks from months ago are sounding really good at this point... but it's never enough. I blame Autechre.

A few mp3s on Coil's Musick to Play in the Dark Vol I and II cause the volume on my ipod to drop to almost silence. It's not just the mp3 volume that's effected, but all sounds associated with the ipod (volume adjust, etc.). The volume bar will still be up to where it is normally when this happens. If I switch to any other mp3 on the ipod, the volume is normal. It's just these 3 or 4 Coil mp3s affected, but on any other system there's nothing wrong with them. I was hoping google search would shed some light, or at least prove that other people have experienced track specific volume issues like this, but any volume issues I read about are not track specific. I'm going to reencode them, as that will probably fix it, but I will always be bothered by the lack of a logical explanation to this problem.... unless someone here can give me one. Inexplicible shit like this drives me up the wall.

I could never let go of that back when I worked in customer service. The fact that I arrived the minute I was meant to start my shifts as opposed to 10 minutes early infuriated one of my last managers, but to me a 9am shift start means a 9am shift start. Otherwise you're losing out on an hour's pay every week. Fuck that.

I tend to have more interesting and elaborate dreams when there isn't much going on in my real life. When my real life is exciting and full of creative productivity, my dreams tend to be bland or nonexistent. Maybe your brain's just sated at the end of the day and has little left over for the dream realm.

I'm pretty sure I've figured out what the problem is. This particular singer expends a lot more air than normal when he sings. The problem can be replicated by blowing into the mic. For him, it consistently happens during harsh plosive sounds, regardless of volume. This leads me to believe the capsules on both my condenser mics need cleaning. The fact that it's a problem on both at around the same time is a bad coincidence. He and have done a lot of recording prior to this without incident. The far worse coincidence is the electrical fire in my board immediately after troubleshooting the mic. (We're using a completely different board now and getting the same problem.... no circuits burning just yet. He's renting a different mic, which should solve the problem until mine get cleaned.)

Scary stuff, I hope he's wrong. I've know a few people in recent years who have dealt with cancer, and remarkably all have pulled through. Take care SG and keep us posted.
