I don't really feel I have a country. I've always felt displaced and disconnected. I like Aus but I've been here 13 years and I admit I have been thinking about relocating to get away from my present situation. maybe learn new things about myself. I don't really agree with that Emerson quote that was posted a few pages back. I mean, I can see it happening, there is definitely some truth in it about trying to escape only to find the same old you elsewhere, but at the same time I don't think the experience would be entirely without some learning and enlightenment. I dunno. ffs you can't just leave the rest of us here with him! he smells! pity there's only one to go around. maybe phling would be kind enough to let you borrow him.

I liked 100th Window and Heligoland both. Heligoland departs from the dark electronic sound palette but in successful, emotionally-engaging ways. I'm thinking of Paradise Circus and Saturday Come Slow. I do agree with you that Mezzanine is their best work (it is freakishly good, practically anything that came after would struggle to keep up) and that having Mushroom in the crew added something to their sound that they lost afterwards. but that was a long time ago and naturally their sound has evolved, and I happen to like the evolution. I just don't think there's any way this rambling little two-track affair is going to beat both of the last two MA albums combined. there's even been one-off MA tracks since Mezzanine that I like more than this, like Live With Me. a longer and more polished collab with Burial would be another thing to judge though. one can dream.

Gravity. I really liked it. I agree though that the score was kind of cheesy, mainly towards the end. but Sandra Bullock was unexpectedly great, I've always liked strong female characters.

it can take a while for your eyes to adjust if you've just started wearing them. things I'd do: 1) confirm that you're actually wearing monthlies. I posted elsewhere previously about how I was sold monthlies which actually turned out to be fortnightlies. just check that they are what you think they are, as it doesn't usually say on the box. 2) try eye drops. you can get lubricating eye drops that help with dryness or irritation, they can be used to help smooth your adjusting period and eventually you'll stop needing to use them. 3) switch brands/types. which one are you using anyway? I'd definitely try eye drops for the moment. I had the same problem as you when I started wearing contacts more regularly and the drops helped. eventually my eyes adjusted.
