right, since moving to mac a few months ago ive not even begun to try and make music on it because frankly im lost, ive been so used to windows for decades now and my one true love flstudio is now not available to me so i need all you lovely amazing people to give me some must have software/plugins/whatever for the mac so i can get started, i have to find a decent sequencer with vst support first really, you are my only hope.

and if any of you can hook me up with some "special" versions of said software i have an ftp waiting and ill give you a big kaenhug.

edit: yes i would just use my windows install on the mac for music making but i cant get the fuckin audio drivers sorted so sound is fookin broken right now.

editedit: skytree, i wanna see you all over this thread like a pedo in the park on easter holiday

i see.

(but i think the developers plan on making it more than a tracker, even considering piano roll, there's a mixer view now, there's talk of slices instead of / in addition to sample offset, etc.)

what about Reason?

probably hard to find a pirate copy for mac though

it's a sad thought to think of your go to application being useless in whatever environment you're in, good luck, i'm not a mac guy so i guess i'm bowing out after this.

If youre down for pirating shit up, you can basically get any windows sequencer apart from fruity loops (or acid i think) so just pick one, logic or cubase or ableton or whatever, they are easy enough to find with bittorrent. especially if you are on moo. I use reason mostly so I cant really advise what is better.

a couple underrated pieces of software for the mac-

Radial - great loop based live performance tool, kind of influenced by ableton but the concept is much more experimental in its approach.

Logic Pro 7 - Sculpture - the best physical modelling piece of software i have ever used, if you ever have a chance to play with Logic check out this virtual instrument that comes with it

Soundhack - the original crazy sound processing program, one of the first to offer convolution and spectral manipulation

Hyperprism - if you can find the original for Mac get it, it was the first effects pack with built in automation on the effect window itself.

It's really hard to find cracks for mac programs. I have Reason, which I hate, and Pro Tools, which is terrible for sequencing.

I would suggest Ableton or Logic.

cracks are easy to find ---> serialbox. also all those virus-ridden serial sites like serials.ws are no problem. also most apps you download have a crack with them

don't bother - it's a nightmare. just get a cheap PC and FL Studio 7 for making music. if you absolutely HAVE to use your Mac, then the only thing that's not a right mission to use is Ableton. I don't like it that much though and I'm a massive FLoops fan, so maybe you won't like it either. Why don't they make FLoops for Macs anyway? about time they sorted it out i think.....

Err none of the software is any harder to use on a Mac.

reason, recycle, Digital Performer (barring one crashy plug-in from a 3rd party), traktor3...all work easy. When I used ProTools free on my old G3 it worked fine there too.

didn't mean it was harder on a mac - i just meant that the music software available for macs is generally more fiddly and annoying and not as intuitive as FLoops. Reason and Ableton being the exception to this. most people with macs seem to use Logic or Cubase though and i feel that these programs lack the ease, fun and expression of FL Studio...

Ahh well different interfaces require learning different ways of interacting with your software/machine.

Kind of like learning a new instrument in the same family of instruments....

and sometimes producing things of worth takes some effort.
