It's not just about him being so far ahead that he and the other runners no longer fit in the camera frame. It's about him looking like he's strolling; barely able to squash that shit-eating grin. He hits the mark and he's just got a casual "huffing" like "me no gwan sweat dis Babylon race ting, seen?" I hope it's not juice...I hope it's years of daggering and being a stone cold shotta that turned him into Jamaica's best rum runner ever known.

He really went for this race, you could see how hard he was pushing it. The pressure to make sure he does win is on now.

i loved how usain was dancing after the race. he seems like such a positive guy, i'm really happy he won. unlike the american dude that came in second, he was scowling even though he broke a national record. geez.

usain bolt seems to have all the physical advantages to being a fast sprinter. still his dominance and ease breaking records is incredible. i guess he is one of those exceptional talents that pop up every few generations.

and having his positive attitude and loose demeanour is a nice change from the usual ultra-agressive posing of the american sprinters.

The whole of the Jamaican camp seems to be easy going and having fun, the woman who won the 400m hurdles was riding around on the back of the mascot today! (before the mascot ran into a trailer with the hurdles on because he couldn't see where the fuck he was going)

did he give himself the last name Bolt?

when i ran track in high school the two best sprinters in our district were named chad bullet and bobby cruise and i'm not joking.

are they gay porn stars now?

his advantage seems pretty obvious: he's got longer legs, so he goes further in less steps.

fewer steps.

Also, being taller means more mass, which of course requires more force to push it faster. It also slows down his starts, but it didn't seem to affect his 100M start this go round, haven't watched the 200 yet. BUt if you watch his Olympic wins he's not first out of the gate in either of those races.

In the words of Frankie Boyle:

"Who cares how he does it, hes just fucking running, all you have to do is put one foot in front of the other slightly faster than normal, you'd have to be Stephen Hawking to fuck that one up"

The only athlete who could beat Usain Bolt's world record would be somebody whose last name is The Hedgehog.

That's true, but I think any disadvantages of extra mass would be canceled out by the benefits of having bigger muscles to move them. Also, my grammer am gud.

Ultimately, I think his success is very much a matter of speed scaling with size.
