next Iphone 4 leak real!

ultra proof from gizmondo

What's new

• Front-facing video chat camera

• Improved regular back-camera (the lens is quite noticeably larger than the iPhone 3GS)

• Camera flash

• Micro-SIM instead of standard SIM (like the iPad)

• Improved display. It's unclear if it's the 960x460 display thrown around before—it certainly looks like it, with the "Connect to iTunes" screen displaying much higher resolution than on a 3GS.

• What looks to be a secondary mic for noise cancellation, at the top, next to the headphone jack

• Split buttons for volume

• Power, mute, and volume buttons are all metallic

What's changed

• The back is entirely flat, made of either glass (more likely) or shiny plastic in order for the cell signal to poke through. Tapping on the back makes a more hollow and higher pitched sound compared to tapping on the glass on the front/screen, but that could just be the orientation of components inside making for a different sound

• An aluminum border going completely around the outside

• Slightly smaller screen than the 3GS (but seemingly higher resolution)

• Everything is more squared off

• 3 grams heavier

• 16% Larger battery

• Internals components are shrunken, miniaturized and reduced to make room for the larger battery

I really like the design very much

but I agree its much too early to say this is final

but aren't they expected to release it in about 2 month?

it's just a development unit, that is not the final form factor.

compare this wii developer unit, for example:

IXoYV.jpg

it looks nothing like the actual wii.

I wish it was, looks darn hardcore

also very suspicious that somebody just "lost" it. Looks more like the promo stunt google did by giving free phones to employees and then having them leak the images

2006 Apple Patent Filing for Ceramic Enclosures

In my research regarding Engadget’s purported photos of a next-gen iPhone, the factor that pushed me over the edge to believe that it’s authentic is the glass back. I know the trend for Apple of late has been toward unibody aluminum enclosures (exhibits A and B: MacBook Pros, iPad), but I think that works poorly for a phone, because the radios can’t get a strong signal. Multiple sources familiar with the next iPhone have confirmed to me that the back is made out of some sort of fancy glass — and looks pretty much exactly like what’s pictured at Engadget. That’s not the only reason I believe Engadget’s unit is legit, but it’s one.

Now, the thing I’ve been curious about ever since hearing about this “glass” back is durability. Everyone knows that dropping your iPhone is like dropping a piece of buttered toast — there’s a good side and a bad side it can land on. Put a glass back on these things and, in terms of drop survivability, it’d be like a piece of toast with butter on both sides, as it were.

But, reader Antoine Hebert emailed with this 2006 Apple patent application, for high-durability ceramic enclosures. Glass-like appearance and feel but far stronger and more scratch resistant. And: radio transparent.

aside from XXGB and whatnot, i find it weird that Apple would etch the product number and FCC logos on the back of the phone if it's a development model.

looks a lot nicer than the first 3 for sure. if that is indeed a real iphone 4 leaked this early, i expect either suicides and/or murders. that is unheard of for apple.

too bad i have to wait until july 2011

the thing is apple could have easily included all these new features on the original iphone but they install them in stages as to increase consumer incentive to buy. it's like when the original PS2 came out without a DVD player and people still bought it in the masses, and then when the one that did play DVDs came out everyone sold their original ones and bought the new one.

in part yes, but things do get faster and better. the crazy ones are the people who buy their new phone every single year throwing hundreds of dollars away just to have the latest technology. the thing with apple is to wait until the rev after when its finely tuned, like the 3gs is. sure this new 4th gen is going to have tons of new bells and whistles but they will be all dialed in and perfected for the 5th gen.

I still don't know to trust on this. Neither gizmodo nor engadget could be bothered to open the fucker up to see what's inside it? That don't seem right at all.

yeah but what kind of processor is inside it or other things...I don;t mean it's not legit iPhone...but the whole way of revealing info just seems fishy.

I assume this is the reason for it:

The device won’t boot up (though it did briefly, and was seemingly remote wiped) and much of the internals are unlabeled, so only so much is known about the insides. But here’s what we know so far:

Dimensions: 4.50″x2.31″x0.37″ (For comparison, the 3GS is 4.5″x2.4″x0.48″)

Weight: 140 grams (3GS: 135 grams)

Battery: 5.25 WHr at 3.7v (3GS was 4.51 WHr at 3.7v, making the new model’s battery about 16.5% higher capacity)

The display: Giz says that the screen seems considerably higher resolution, but can’t determine a specific pixel count. From a technical standpoint, doing anything but doubling the pixel count both horizontally and vertically (effectively quadrupling the number of pixels on screen) would be problematic for the 180,000 apps already in the App Store. As such, if it’s a higher resolution, it’s almost certainly 960×640.

Front facing camera

Secondary rear camera, with a camera flash and seemingly larger lens

Uses Micro-SIM instead of a standard SIM. Nothing in the US besides the iPad 3G uses Micro-SIM at this point.

As shown in pictures, the rear of the case abandons the curves of the last few generations in favor of something almost perfectly flat.

This defintely seems sketchy but then again, there has never been a major apple leak before so it's hard to belive. If it's not real it may be the greatest hoax yet. But it kind of seems real to me

the problem is you can't just install a new iphone os on remotely disabled phone to look up the details missing as they can only be installed on the iphone version they are made for

for the new iphone is no version available as its not sold yet of course

maybe some jailbreak guys could fix this when you gave them enough time which they don't have currently as apple is demanding the phone back

I'm not sold on the new body design but the video chat will be wicked. I'm totally satisfied with my 3GS fir the forseeable future. Btw, since this hasn't been released yet doesn't Apple have the legal right to demand it be returned? I guess that would confirm it's legit though.
