Fur Alina is one of the most beautiful tracks I've heard in my life, probably second only to Eno's - An Ending (Ascent). Although probably seen as sacrilege by some, for me Rafael Anton Irisarri's reworking of the track on the EP Reverie ( http://www.boomkat.com/artist.cfm?a=12677 ) somehow pulls the heart strings even further than the original.

just like Gorecki he's a modern/ancient master.

regarding electronic music, check the fennesz remix of his organ piece. that was on split 7" with philip jeck.

It wasn't Arvo Pärt, it was Charles Matthews:

Heh, that'd be why it didn't ring a bell to me !

His music sounds so pure and timeless. Cantus in Memory of Benjamin Britten might be his most powerful work, or possibly Arbos. I had the fortune of seeing Te Deum live (absolutely massive group of performers), and it totally blew me away.

well, its fennesz/jeck remixing a fabulous Arvo Pärt piece of music, "Annum per annum", you can reckon the piece easily in the fennesz remix.

obviously the organ was played by charles matthews. the piece is dedicated to arvo pärt anyway. speaking of fennesz remixes, next step : oneohtrix point never...
