Need good Android apps!

Ok, I need to stockpile my phone with awesome apps. Practical, useless, games, whatever, but it needs to be good and it needs to be aesthetically pleasing. I'm more looking for gadgets that involve the touch screen in a cool way. Don't have a huge amount of stuff on here yet but basically any app recommendations would be appreciated. Thanks Watmm!

Fish Food. Touchscreen game.

Fruit Ninja. Touchscreen game.

MegaJump. Orientation game.

Word Mix. Addictive anagram game.

Advanced.Task Killer.

We7.

YouTube.

Photoshop Express.

I personally need a new homepage widget since I deleted Twitter. I've downloaded EverNote, which looks like it could be awesome when I finally use it, but I need something bigger to fill the screen.

i like http://www.mathsworkout.net/ and wolfram alpha

there's a nice bus-finder app for my city too, but not sure if you'd need/want that sort of thing in ottawa

also tapatalk, so you can watmm while you aren't watmming :watmm:

i now see that you've said "good and aesthetically pleasing"...

5 of my favourites -

1. Unified Remote (Remote control for your PC)

2. Solipskier (Awesome flash game ported to Android that I was utterly addicted to last year)

3. Snesoid (SNES emulator - get yourself a copy of Final Fantasy VI, Crono Trigger & Earthbound and you'll be busy for months !)

4. Nanoloop - (Mini tracker on your phone)

5. Magic Doodle (Cos drawing stuff in meetings is always fun)

Plus there's Google Maps which always gets me out of trouble as I have no sense of direction. And if you're looking for a replacement keyboard I personally recommend the underrated Swiftkey, I much prefer it to Swype.

Audiogalaxy- stream all the music on your computer, to your phone!

Ethereal Dialpad- My favourite android app. A really cool x-y synthesizer.

AK Notepad- A notepad.

Nanoloop- an awesome sequencer.

Ninjump, a fun mindless touch screen game.

Unblock Me- an insanely difficult puzzle game.

RD3- a 303ish sequencer

Alchemy- a great waste of time. Combine elements to make more things like cars, snakes, poison, time, people...

Movie Finder- it's pretty self explanatory.

No Way But Down- an ASCII roguelike rpg. Confusing, but fun once you're used to it.

Where's My Droid?- If you lose it a lot, just download this and have someone text 'where's my droid' to your phone and no matter what volume it's on, it will ring at max volume.

Oooh I forgot one of those - I use Lookout Mobile Security ( http://www.mylookout.com/ ) because as well as doing the above, you can also hunt for your phone via GPS on any computer/phone that has internet access. It also works as a resident malware shield for your phone as well.

Nothing I've come across. If you feel like spending a buck or two, the Gravitone extention for it is pretty cool- it uses the phone's motion sensor instead of the x-y pad, and looks IDM as fuck.

Anything else similar to this ethereal dialpad thing? It's probably the most fun so far.

BallDroppings

Also, here's an older thread about apps: http://forum.watmm.com/topic/59774-android-apps-thread/

My favorite new game is Chalk Ball!

Also, the best online radio station has its own app now: Intergalactic FM

Been flashing my phones for years, ever since windows mobile 5, and never had issues with warranty, although Ive never bricked a phone. I had a screen go out on my G1 and got it replaced without any issues and I had that thing rooted and overclocked.

I have a fault on my phone, the fault being that it's unrootable (and it's not just me being stupid, I took the phone to a friend who's rooted many an android). Basically there's something wrong with the USB data connection which makes it completely unconnectable (the phone goes into a reboot loop) if you put it into HTC Sync mode i.e. what you use in order to use Unrevoked and that

I can probably do the update.zip method by making a gold card thing but I don't want to lose all the stuff I've got on here, plus I'm not that bothered in trying custom roms really ...

well with the Nexus phones there is a very telltale way of finding out if your handset has been rooted or not - this appears on bootup

not sure about other phones, but i know this is the case with the Nexus line.

That sucks :( although there are ways around the usb connection: sdcard, wireless ADB, dropbox... you can even use ES File Explorer to browse your network files.

you can backup the stuff you have on the SD card in your phone, you don't even have to wipe it. It's really not that difficult. and I get most of my google settings backed up online somewhere. whenever I install a new ROM it installs a lot of the apps I had before I flashed.

Do you have a HTC Desire? I have, and I didn't need the HTC Sync software, just the driver that came with it so the phone can talk to the computer. Maybe you need the android sdk installed or something, I don't remember.

Yeah I've got a Desire, the problem is not the software side of things but the phone itself. You know when you plug in the phone using the USB cable it brings up that menu asking you to charge only, be a USB storage device, use as a modem, or put it in HTC Sync mode (the last being the one you need to put it on to do ADB stuff or root it etc.) and you choose that final option the phone will either: do nothing and no computer can see it (using the official sync software or unrevoked or the android SDK), or the phone will just reboot. Someone had the same thing on another forum and they got a new Desire and all was well, so I guess some of them just have this issue...
