For instance, Captain Ron is a prequel to Escape From New York. After the family he travels with is murdered by pirates, Ron watches the world collapse and takes on a new, more jaded persona: Snake Plissken. Dumb and Dumber is a sequel to The Squid and the Whale. Jeff Daniels' character suffers a debilitating stroke while in the hospital at the end of The Squid and the Whale and loses a lot of brain function and all memories of his family. Guest zaphod Posted April 18, 2012 Share Posted April 18, 2012 pretty sure election is a sequel to ferris bueller's day off. after sloane leaves him and cameron dies at the hands of his father, ferris drifts through a series of meaningless jobs, marries a boring woman he isn't in love with and eventually becomes a teacher to relive his high school glory days.
