I had the impression many people really liked the new logo Godwin Austen designed. So I just wanted to make a poll about it to have some numbers.

This was the old one:

this is the current one:

This is the one Godwin Austen did:

lol democracy. i think the new logo works well as a header, but need to see it blown up (like on the homepage) to fully make up my mind

edit: could always keep the classic logo for the homepage, and have new (mini) one for the forums

Sorry I've been lax on taking the great suggestions Jules and Godwin made regarding the logo redesign - I've been busy and haven't had the time to implement their changes. If I have time this week I'll try to get to it.

Anyone thinking a private forum affords you any rights or is a democracy... well, let's just leave it at that.

I'd prefer if we have one consistent logo in all areas of the site, and any variations match it style-wise, again, for consistency.

Fair point on consistency, just that it....was difficult to choose. Especially given that classic logo has some history with the old watmm releases etc. The new logo is quite clever and sharp looking though. Oh I wanted to stay anonymous so as to not potentially cause any offense :emotawesomepm9:

I voted for the Godwin version, but I have to say that it looks better in 'white'/black than the blue/white version you've posted. Somehow it doesn't work at all in the blue/white version, imo. But the 'white'/black is a big yes!

Opinions are just that - opinions. Everyone's entitled to them.

The plan (once I find a spare hour or two) is to incorporate elements from Godwin's and Jules' suggestions and the other suggestions about the logo I designed and come up with something that's tee shirt worthy, forum worthy, album cover worthy, and main site worthy

I feel I have to remind again that my logo, as it looks now, is not a final version. Due to the little time I had to make it, there are tweaks that need to be done (like character kerning, maybe finding another, but similar font, etc). Still, the emblem itself is quite thought-through. The reason I showed it was for everybody to see the idea, post comments or concerns about it, and so to partake in its creation, or say it sucks and leave the idea. I don't see how the logo could turn out better with mashing it up with the current one. They are just too different.

My personal reason for making it in the first place was out of enjoyment, and the fact that the current one doesn't work well. It's nothing personal with you, Joyrex, I think you did a great job with making this forum and all, but if you feel that everything must be done by yourself, then by all means make your own, or tweak mine as it is. Just don't mix the two, because there is not way of mixing them and maintaining a certain style.

LOL, that's terribly close-minded, considering it's coming from a obviously creative person such as yourself - how about you wait and see what I come up with, then decide if it's not possible. I've been a graphic designer for almost 20 years, and gainfully employed as such for more than half that - I think I can manage to come up with a few things that might work.

If I understand you correctly, my opinion on not-mixing the two, is close-minded?

What I was trying to say was, that my design went through a certain process which results in the form you see now. I believe you can make a whole new thing with just using the elements I did or start from scratch, it really doesn't matter. But you said you're going to (literarly) _mix_ the two, and that just seemed like a no-go solution. I never said you 're unable to come up with a better design.

I think the language barrier here got in the way - it was the finality of your statement "because there is not way of mixing them and maintaining a certain style." that I interpreted as saying it wasn't possible for me to mix them and successfully incorporate elements of your design and mine to work cohesively.
