I highly recommend you get the audio book 'iPartridge'. What makes it so good is that it's over six hours of the Alan Partridge book narrated by himself. It is really good.

What you need to do is set up an account on audible here:

http://www.audible.co.uk/t1/Default30_at?source_code=VGR30DFT1Bk9004RA020812

It's free to set up and you get one month free. You can then download iPartridge.

You may then, if you like, cancel the subscription but still keep the audio book.

I'm not sure if this is the same for around the world but it's good for UK.

  • 3 months later...

I've been watching so much Alan Partridge the past couple weeks... AH HA!

Seriously one of the best comedians and I have noticed many things borrowed from his writing, Colbert/Stewart especially. I imagine even Larry David was influenced to do Curb because of Alan.

actually LD had never heard of him before a showrunner suggested they get coogan on for a cameo for season 5 or 6. Too bad his part wasn't very good. LD comes straight out of borscht belt slapstick, and just combined it with his own internal neuroses. Latter seasons were far more slapstick as he got older, the buckner bit, groat's disease.

anyway... day today alan is best alan for me.

Alan, how much orange is there in a dead body?

uhh... half a cup...

Interesting, I don't even recall seeing Coogan on Curb and I've seen them all, but it has been a few years.

Alan - "So what bands do you like then?"

Ben - "Nirvana...

Alan - (looks bemused)

Ben - Kurt Cobain, you know blew his head off with a shotgun"

Alan - "Why?"

Ben - "I dunno, he was depressed."

Alan- "Why? Were they not very good?"

Ben - "No, they were great"

Alan - "Hmm someone should have told him"

For me it goes:

Audiobook

I'm Alan Partridge 1 & 2

Welcome to the Places of my Life

Mid Morning Matters

The Day Today

Knowing Me Knowing You

You should check out 'The Trip' too - where Coogan plays himself on a tour of restaurants in the Lake District. Half scripted, half improvised, half truth, half fiction - its brilliant and strangely relaxing to watch.
