I like the cover too. although i think it would have looked better with white between the panels and not the grid lines

Dalhous set:
Dalhous demos 2009-2013
"These collection of demos vary drastically in the amount of time that I had spent on them. Some are just quick sketches which I have lost the original recording files for, while other tracks are fully fleshed out ideas that weren't appropriate for any of the records that have previously been released. I think they give a pretty vivid indication to the different types of varying and abstract moods that I'm interested in exploring." - Marc Dall

wow. this album is even better than their first one. sounds a lot like boards of canada, but a little darker

first listen:

i disagree. i prefer the first one. to me, this one has a lot of material that just meanders. i found myself forgetting that it was playing after the first 4 tracks. it's a fine album...it just doesn't have the bite of the first one. only a few tracks demand attention. i'm glad i didn't purchase the vinyl. i've had it in my cart twice already but couldn't bite.

it may be a grower. we'll see. i'll probably end up cutting out the chaff and throwing the rest to tape.

Honestly I felt a bit the same on the first listen - a lot of the tracks didn't really grab me, but having spent time with it it's probably one of my favorite releases all year. It's a grower for sure.

been enjoying this one quite a bit. definitely one to put on a few times before trying to form an opinion about. fairly suble.

After a few listens, I like the somewhat contemplative/melancholy/nostalgic atmosphere of this album, and I prefer it to the first album. No tracks really reach out and grab me, but I'll be listening to it more...

Edit: and I agree with whomever said there's a hair of BoC vibe, particularly "tomorrow's harvest".

Had some time to really listen to this now. Excellent tracks.

Cannot understand why the're not a big hit on here. Some amazing, haunting electronica.

If this album had the words 'Boards of Canada' on it, the thread would likely be about two hundred pages long.

These days, it's all in the name.

I second that, excellent album. No weak track in here. Highly recommended!

Thanks for those. I think 'Will To Be Well' is still a slightly stronger album than the new one but it has some nice moments. "An Ambassador For Laing' is still their best work.
