batch Posted July 10, 2014 Share Posted July 10, 2014 wow. this album is even better than their first one. sounds a lot like boards of canada, but a little darker first listen: i disagree. i prefer the first one. to me, this one has a lot of material that just meanders. i found myself forgetting that it was playing after the first 4 tracks. it's a fine album...it just doesn't have the bite of the first one. only a few tracks demand attention. i'm glad i didn't purchase the vinyl. i've had it in my cart twice already but couldn't bite. it may be a grower. we'll see. i'll probably end up cutting out the chaff and throwing the rest to tape. NP: dalhous - an ambassador for laing Honestly I felt a bit the same on the first listen - a lot of the tracks didn't really grab me, but having spent time with it it's probably one of my favorite releases all year. No tracks really reach out and grab me, but I'll be listening to it more... Edit: and I agree with whomever said there's a hair of BoC vibe, particularly "tomorrow's harvest".
