Useless Rephlex Trivia of the Day: Tank Racer Brainwashing

So recently I rediscovered this box of old PC games, including one of my faves from that time: Tank Racer (from 1999), which got me looking up a gameplay video of it to see why on earth I liked that game (well, tanks with guns on speed, obviously) and suddenly saw this:

Of course I wondered if there was any involvement from Rephlex in the game but that's not the case. According to Netlabel Archive the guy designing the game (and who was on the same label that did the soundtrack, producing under the name 3818919/w) was just a 'massive braindance fan' and decided to stick Rephlex logos all over the game.

Listening back to the soundtrack, it's quite nostalgic and in hindsight is quite Rephlex-y at times, which I'm sure also planted a braindance-seed as a youngster Jan playing this game to death. It was all subliminal braindance brainwashing that got me into this I guess :)

Bonus useless trivia: (former?) watmm member Lackluster was the only one, besides the music on this game, that released a physical product on this label.

Useless bonus fact: the first level in this game is called "the Village" and has some resemblances to the Cornwall countryside, this is where the screenshots are from.

is this the tank game from that interview

probably not but would've been cool

Ha, no. This game is from 1999, that video is from 1995. It did cross my mind though...

I have a couple of things by Vim, quite good, still releasing stuff: https://vimster.bandcamp.com/

Awesome! Thanks, going to check this out :)
