  1. A bit too political in that article, but it gets at the gist of things I think. yeah, it's a good article. I think my main problem with vaporware is that I disagree with the premises. obviously it's worthy of great attention, either way. I just don't really like the "accelerationist" idea. I think capitalism is at least kind of good. and a lot of these theorists tend to fail in convincing me other wise. obviously it has problems, i just don't see a great alternative. people gotta acknowledge that a little bit Agreed. It's just new fashion for something thats been there. Definitely allows a lot of interesting ideas/exploration, but the notion that it is behind some grand goal of anti-capitalism is a bit reaching. I also think that the point of the music actually isn't completely that. I think Vektroid himself said that viewing it as purely anti-capitalist misses it a bit (it was in a youtube comment somewhere, don't quote me on this); it's also fun to listen to. The capitalism thing is also sort of about the corporate destruction of art. It's kind of like Andy Warhol in song form.
  2. whatevs its close point is the point isn't just nostalgia
  3. Vaporwave isn't always slowed down old stuff, you know. Fatima Al Qadiri is considered vaporwave I think, and she's all about new and flashy:
  4. Witch house then chillwave and glofi and hypnagogic pop then seapunk then vaporwave actually. In my opinion vaporwave is the best name. It's clever at least.
  5. http://dummymag.com/features/2012/07/12/adam-harper-vaporwave/ A bit too political in that article, but it gets at the gist of things I think.
  6. lol also, in before gmanyo lol edit: [hipster]2 or 3 years ago I would stay up late watching the public access channel that was only text and MIDI tunes to the point where I knew all the songs. I told my friend that we needed to record the music from the public access channel or make music like it, and I vaguely remember feeling like it would be the next thing and that I needed to get in on it before it happened. I'm mildly annoyed I didn't actually do it now that vaporwave is a thing.[/hipster] edit2: This video:
  7. ahhh fuck yeahhh escape from new york samples! I've seen that movie like 7 times.
  8. Yeah the first day for me was hell. Got a bit better at night and sort of wore off just in time for me to go to bed. Now I'm just dazed and often groggy.
  9. really? shit. I'm at 150mg a night extended release, and my life is even more dream like than it was before. Been on it for a few days, was dead tired the first, like I had jetlag again, and definitely still groggy. I don't even really think I'm bipolar, at least not to a very much. I don't know why he's giving me this stuff.
  10. wheee druggs yeah my doc just replaced my gabapentin with seroquel wheee im tired all the time yayyy my whole life is like a dream
  11. I think there are plenty of people who listen to Skrillex and get legitimate emotion out of it, who take it seriously and love it. People probably get the same emotional response from Skrillex that you get from Autechre. Some people just like it for parties and social purposes, but those people often either just aren't musical, or they have other music which they take more seriously. I have a friend who loves VHS Head and Flying Lotus and all sorts of other "deep" music, but when Skrillex is on at a party he'll dance. It's fun. But it's still music, it can still be taken seriously, and it's not objectively bad.

    Permanent Jetlag

I fucking love the sun coming up when you're outside and awake and have stayed up the next night. Also, do you get those jetlag moments where you're so tired you almost can't stay awake, but not just in an "I'm really tired" way but in an "I'm confused and feel like I'm drugged" way? Or those times when you act funny and you feel awake but you're super off? I make a 12 hour time change 2 times a year minimum, so I experience these frequently.
  13. i liked the fat lady sex scene edit: All joking aside, that was actually a really good scene. It had cool character interactions.
