  1. I agree with you (not seeing the film), but i would go further - why should i believe in all these overhyped celebrities acting in movies incl. "serious" movies by big-name directors. There's a lot in acting that's purely about appearance (that is why the most high-paid actors are such) and their appearance is littered beyond any acting skills, moreover the whole industry and, broadly, culture is more invested in hyping up on-screen idols. Seriously, fuck movies - if there's a good one, cool, that's against the wind.
  2. https://www.rockpapershotgun.com/2017/05/11/square-enix-selling-hitman-studio/ Publisher Square Enix is selling IO Interactive who's in the middle of making Hitman season 2. Could be a good thing (less bullshit tactics like the always online demand), could be bad - most publishers are nasty for dollaz these days, and if noone picks it up in time, there would be no season 2. Personally, i didn't like the episodic release, bought it in full only after all episodes were out. Yet despite the non-story sandbox style i enjoyed the story - minimalistic gangster thriller with stone faces is OK with me, especially after the soapy Absolution. The gameplay is Hitman at its best, definitely could be polished further.

  4. I'm not saying it's a marketing scheme or anything negative, only that there's a thin line between a sponsored scene like that (aside from direct ads) and what animated shows naturally do. I'm not completely unfamiliar with the show, it originated from Back to the Future parody and it's strange to deny characters' likeliness visually and as archetypes (Doc wasn't an original character himself, a mish-mash of Einstein and various imaginary mad scientists). I think we should stop this discussion and reflect.
  5. Yeah and it ends with a large ad basically, yet if it wasn't so obvious, i'm not sure it will bulge at all. I mean these two guys are a sort of running Back to the Future franchise ad themselves. So yeah, big franchises are marketed all the time without any commisions or big titles.
  6. I haven't seen this series, but ain't most of todays US animated shows consist of popcultural references to some extent. It's basically built for marketing, especially since there's nothing outside of basic Alien mythology in this snippet. In fact, you could make a marketing tour on every show running with some sort of hommage to Alien.
  7. Highly recommended (best game i've played in years despite some idiotic fantasy plot points within a wannabe dark & realistic world), but it's 100+ hours type of game and that's without two DLCs which are much more focused and varied narratively, could be separate games themselves. I realised how deep it was only after i finished it the first time not givin a fuck, then it sucked in and i played Witcher 2 (the first one is too old and PC-centric for me, well it's PC-only clicking through shit) which i thought was garbage initially. After that i replayed Witcher 3 on a harder level using most of the tools, looking for slick gear from the start and that was a blast. It just has these little details, like protagonist phlegmatically reacting to the weather - "wind's howling" - or first time walking to the city of Oxenfurt (small in fact) through long-ass bridge at sundown after many hours of forests and swamps and it felt like, shit's deep.
  8. He never said that about color correction, if anything he admitted it was a great tool used narrow-mindedly based on one theoretical concept. I'm not watching a lot of movies these days, so i would want more pedantic approach to examples though, not a bunch of nonames and a couple of stupid blockbusters to support your point, maybe also show a couple of films where color correction was done the other way. Here's a short read on grading vs. correction: https://learning.linkedin.com/blog/design-tips/color-grading-vs--color-correction--what-s-the-difference- Yeah, words are like bitches, inconsistent

  11. congratulations, you have discovered that music is subjective Music is not subjective, it's the same sound waves for everybody, which can be measured by many devices with identical results. You mean liking music is subjective? Decent story, but it's not what he's asking. We have roughly the same ear mechanisms and brain processing, so we hear roughly the same stuff happening. Close enough to describe what's happening (Arthur Baker sampling a sped-up Stravinsky orchestral stab from the sound library to use on the beat) and even why it's unique or interesting (nobody did that before and therefore it sounds fresh).
