  1. Nintenderp. They pretty much dominated the game industry in the late '80s thru early '90s, but all empires fall after they rise I reckon.
  2. I have Mercenary Kings on PS4 - is it worth playing? I tried it and thought it was going to be a Metal Slug/Contra style run and gun, but it's more of a Metroidvania (urg) style game where you explore and backtrack... Overall I would recommend Merc Kings, but I also found it to be very time-consuming if you decide to take on every mission in the game. Took me about 37 hours actually. I'd say it looks and plays like the NES Megaman games, but there are loads of missions, material-gathering, and weapon customization. But I certainly wouldn't expect an entire playthrough in one or two days. As for the new Wolfenstein: TNO, it looks pretty intense. But I still have to wait a while on account of my old "I'm-too-poor-to-buy-a-better-PC" excuse. That series has come a hell of a long way since Castle Wolfenstein from 1981 tho.
  3. I beat both 10000000 on iOS and Mercenary Kings on PC today. What a way to end the month.
  4. Taking sick leave from work today cos my lower back hurts like a bitch. I feel like such a wimp.
  5. Think I'm getting sick of my job as an outdoor equipment rental clerk on a military base. I've managed to hold on to it for almost eight years, but today was a shittier day than usual. I've just learned to tolerate it most of the time. I feel like I'm due for a new job, but I doubt my chances of getting hired due to my lack of specialized skills, especially during a crap economic phase. I just feel like a zombie right now emotionally.

  7. If you make it far, please let me know how that game works. I completely gave up on it last year after failing three times in a row. I wanted to like it, but the luck based combat made me ANGRY. By luck-based you're referring to the hit probability of soldiers lining up a shot with the enemy, right? I've found out that soldiers' ability to aim increases as they level up both in XP and rank. Rookies are generally the worst shots. The original MicroProse game from 1994 had the same hit chance system as far as I know though. I reckon Firaxis were just staying true to tradition in this case.
  8. Finally got to try XCOM: Enemy Within last night. Only completed a couple missions so far, so I'm still a ways from building MEC soldiers, encountering Mechtoids, applying Gene Mods, etc. Gonna pick up where I left off after I finish this post.
  9. Heated a black bean burger patty in the microwave and slapped it on a sesame bun. Then used sliced avocado and Rojo's restaurant-style salsa to dress it up. Simple yet satisfying, and even vegan-friendly.

  11. It didn't piss a rainbow like Gaylord Sweetwood's av then? What does it meeeaaaaan
  12. ^ That new upcoming Alien game looks pretty dope. Looks like it'll be truer to the original 1979 film, too. I dig the dingy, clunky late-70s, early-80s retrofuturistic aesthetics. Reminds me very much of Routine, which is also still in development.
  13. Playing UFO: Enemy Unknown thru the OpenXCom 0.9 mod. Much wider array of options, including resolutions settings, Music/SFX volume control, and various gameplay feature toggles. Plus smoother gameplay and more responsive controls. Also much more language options available and more diverse nationalities of XCOM operatives. After trying this out, I probably can't go back to the vanilla version.
  14. Barkhad Abdi should've won one (one won?) also
  15. lol @ Jeebus couple and their fright of the Skeletwerk speaking of skeletons.. [youtubehd]quDQ38dx21o[/youtubehd]
  16. Me? No, I'm quite average. Just venting, that's all.
  17. After you finish Far Cry 3, I highly recommend Far Cry 3: Blood Dragon. It's basically an '80s sci-fi action version, but with the same up-to-date grafix. And a macho-er protagonist.

  19. Heard about a 2-min sample of the remix @ Aperture Records' site. Really dig what I've heard so far; the granular chords in the background and the insectoid percussion - a sound only Ae can produce. The MP3 download will be available 3rd March on Amazon - I'll wait til then to buy the whole thing. Not gonna bother with Blerp because I don't trust their inconsistency in service.
