  1. F7 might be my favorite ultramelodic track they've ever made. when it settles into the muted beat and grindy chords toward the end.. fuck it's so satisfying
  2. you know the one track that came to mind that would flow into this really well is Blyz Castl, another great hidden gem. if they ever did release a misc tracks compilation I think those two would work really well back-to-back
  3. sounds sweet! I've been listening to Concrete Desert a lot, this sounds similarly dystopian but in a more trip hop way
  4. new Chester Watson album is really good
  5. Idiology is so good, that's what got me into them. it's so lush and packed with detail. And yeah basically every album they released in the 90s is a timeless classic (including Glam and Instrumentals which seem underrated). Radical Connector and Varcharz are very good too. I feel like their albums from Parastrophics onward have been a little less interesting, but there's still some excellent tracks on them.
  6. 7FM is awesome. great Fol3-style "i'm falling down this huge-ass tunnel" vibes, and then the beat is so rich and keeps it anchored in a really satisfying way.
  7. god the title track is so beautiful. I love this album
  8. I love the percussion, harmonies and atmosphere throughout the track, but the big highlights that push it into top-tier for me are: the ear candy glitchfest that starts around 3:15, and when the chords come in at 7:42 and play that beautiful melancholy progression that leads into the outro. Like most of S+P it really shines on headphones
  9. i honestly wish ecol4 was even longer. those last couple minutes are amazing
  10. listening to the previews on bleep and fuck yeah this sounds great. deep dubby soundscapes
  11. i remember ageispolis was in the first batch of random tracks i downloaded off of kazaa that got me into aphex twin. but of course this also included "outside kickass violin solo" and several other fakes
  12. this sounds sweet. i haven't heard any of their new stuff for years but i used to be really into them. EP+2 and my father my king are still stone-cold classics.
  13. I loved the queen's gambit. I wish more netflix shows were that tightly paced. I guess being a limited series makes it easier to get the plot sequencing right. No filler, it just flows so well from scene to scene.

    SIGN or PLUS?

PLUS had a more visceral impact on first listen but I haven't even begun to fully internalize it yet, whereas SIGN I've already formed a really strong emotional connection to. so I have to vote S for now, even though P is still growing on me every day. I feel like this pair will end up being my favorite material since Oversteps+MOT. I really enjoyed the contrast between those two releases, and I love that they did the same sort of thing here - an album of emotional catharsis followed by an album with a wide variety of bangers and a few nods to the melodic sound world of the former.
  15. I love the transition from marhide into ecol4.. it's like ecol scoops up the static from marhide and slices it into neat little slabs
  16. I'm listening to the preview track again and i really like it. if the whole album is slow-burning minimal grooves like this i'd be into it. also seems like a good sign that dodo nkishi is involved again, I love all the albums they've made with him.
  17. I'm a big fan of disco volante and california but this isn't really my cup. Secret chiefs on the other hand.. I love pretty much everything they've ever released. They long ago eclipsed bungle for me.
  18. Yeah, even in the extended tracks there is just so much development constantly. a lot of the long songs on NTS had less dramatic variations moment-to-moment with the big changes coming at a few particular inflection points, but here they seem to be morphing dramatically all the time. it makes it such a fascinating listen
  19. love this release. promises was one of my favorite tracks of 2019, those beat syncopation changes are so satisfying
  20. I love how thick and juicy the bass is on this album. those thumps on 7FM remind me of Cfern
  21. i did think of move of ten when i heard the first few tracks. marhide kinda reminds me of pce freeze. i love when they use a sparse, simple beat and just go all out on the atmosphere around it.
  22. i totally agree the art is better than on elseq or exai. on the physical copy I think it looks pretty sweet. the superbright orange color of the inner sleeve works really well.
  23. thx mom! https://mouseonmarstj.bandcamp.com/album/aai
  24. still absorbing this all but I am immediately obsessed. ecol4, X4, and TM1 have got to be up there in the pantheon of their finest output. just incredible tracks, I love how much they develop and change over the extended durations. the rhythms in X4... god damn. reminds me of lentic catachresis in parts. also really feeling the rough, heavy percussive sound on the first 3 tracks. when exai came out I made this max patch to play the wavs and run them through my spectrogram generator and ever since I like to use it for my first listen whenever new autechre digis drop. PLUS spectrograms were lush!
