  1. Maybe I should have rephrased. She didn't directly make him more authoritarian but she couldn't make him more liberal either, as Schröder apparently could. Maybe Putin was just playing a smart game but during the Schröder era Putin was way more interested in doing compromises. Maybe the annexation of Crimea could have been prevented (speculative but possible). Part of why Putin and Merkel don't like each other is maybe that they are two completely different types of politicians. Merkel isn't that vain/narcissistic type and also a woman and a hardcore transatlanticist (she loves that the US sanctions Germany for trading with Russia). Schröder and Putin were friends and licked each others ass - which is gross but had the side effect that Russia was more peaceful and less repressive during that time and that the influence of the West on Russia kept increasing. Now Russia is seen as the enemy and as a result acts like it. But I'm mostly just speculating. I read an interesting article about that but can't find it right now. If I do, I will link it here. Obligatory Putin on horse picture:
  2. Russia becoming more and more authoritarian (not that it wasn't that before) is partly to blame on Merkel. Schröder did a more diplomatic Russia politic which for a short time led Russia to open up and orient towards the West, Merkel spoilt that. Schröder is now working in the Russian oil industry, so there is that weird after taste. But had Merkel chosen a more diplomatic approach, maybe Russia would have continued that course of slowly becoming more liberal. @dcom speaks Russian.
  3. ^Been through two bottles of the Thai version of it since I discovered this product not long ago, but gotta try the Korean version, too. And of course Miso is great.
  4. I think in Southern countries you can get away with wearing yee yee ass shrill fashion. White pants in Rome are more ok than they are in London. Especially black people can wear more different styles of yee yee ass clothing without looking stupid in it, imo. Pink shirt on a black guy doesn't look that gay - probably racist and homophobic so sorry for that, still true
  5. I really like it. Both sequencing and sound design are superb. Could be a bit more compressed for my taste
  6. You're not entirely wrong, though. They belong together in some way. Both are messing with perception and in combination even more. I started liking music and making music earlier than I ever tried alcohol or other drugs, though. Some music only really works in combination with drugs. Techno and MDMA belong together. They are okay on their own, too, I guess
  7. And in between their precarious jobs they are expected to invest maximum unpaid time in finding a new employer who they should be extremely thankful to work for and give them all their time. You are taught from early on not to have any self-worth if you aren't dedicating your life to some company's investors' dividends.
  8. hearing street noises and checking your playlist which noise track is playing only to find out no music is playing at all? been there lol
  9. Your post could be read as if you spent that much every weekend, not for all weekends in total. 650 would be insane even when you drink 10 dollar beers in fancy bars. That's 30 lines of cocaine and 35 beers per weekend. I think this consumption behaviour exists but is rare.
  10. Sounds like a solid investment to me. Approved. ?

  12. That's cheesy as fuck and you should delete this post. It's on the first page of a very important mega thread - please remove it.
  13. I love the piece you just posted. What I mean by "bland" is that it allows for very limited timbral variation. You can add expression by: 1) changing tempo 2) changing velocity 3) playing notes slightly delayed to each other in a chord 4) using the pedals The sound itself is extremely clean and samey. Doesn't mean a well-played piano doesn't sound amazing. Boundaries can actually be a good thing for being creative. Do you ever prepare your piano?
  14. - Would you consider the IDM community a diverse social space? Is it a cohesive community or fragmented in some way? Yes and no. It's mostly white males predominantly living within the Anglosphere but from all sorts of age groups and walks of life, it seems. - What constitutes "popular music" in this digital age? Is IDM popular music? No. - Does the online underground exist? What kind of impact does it have on listeners? Please define underground. What exactly differentiates underground from non-underground?
  15. "Experimental techno" doesn't work as braindance isn't necessarily experimental or techno-like.
