  1. I don't know if anybody else is aware of this album, it's fuckin awesome...
  2. Quaristice is becoming my favourite Autechre album. Most nostalgic I feel with Chiastic Slide, but I think my new favourite is Quaristice.* *nota bene: "favourite" and not "best". I have no use for latter word in comparing Autechre albums. Because they are all "the best".
  3. Thanks for the explanation! For me the flow is very obvious. It starts beat-heavy with a strong hip-hop vibe. Then introduces more and more melodic elements and culminates with a strong build-up of tracks in a memorable finale. So the narrative for me is very similar to that of LP5.

Yep. That is written on it.

I bought the casette, and just now I'm listening to it the first time. Is it just hallucination or is there a slight difference in mastering? I think the bass is more present like on the CD. And the softness of the tape sound really makes a huge difference for me, has more wamth to it. And I like the dynamics here too. I wouldn't have guessed that it could be such a different experience even though I hoped for it.
  6. What is the definition for a "b-side collection" for EP7 being definitely one? I don't feel it disjointed either. Or not more than any other Autechre record. I think it has a very good flow and a clear and own sonic landscape.
  7. The bonus tracks link LP5 and EP7 obviously together. EP7 starts where LP5 ended, And I like how different the two end: LP5 on with pathos with the triumphant Drane2 (bonus track beside), EP7 somber and poetically tormented with Pir. Masterpieces both.
  8. 1 = 2 hours 2 = 2 hours 3 = 2 hours 4 = 2 hours 1 = 2 = 3 = 4 Quod erat demonstrandum.
  9. I watched some reviews about Tri Rep on YT, and I'm pissed about the bitchin over the album cover. For fucks sake, buy the CD! It has 6 variant covers, if you want an other, amirite?
  10. I got it today ? I'm listening to it on my phone since saturday, and I'm really happy with it. The melodic style reminds me a bit on the Daydreams-stuff (rich and very structured). It's a very accessible record for sure, I just find it a bit short. Could be twice that long...
  11. Blasting Oversteps really load right now. Fuck, 'Treale' is a banger! Such complexity!!!
  12. After numerous listens (from CD) I have to say "all end" is my favourite Autechre track ever. I was pretty depressed yesterday night, but after a listening session to "all end" in full darkness I had this great cathartic feeling, and was relieved. Amazing and uplifting track. So grateful for it. Thanks Sean & Rob!
  13. Okay, then say that. My criticism was only with the term "self indulgent". You dislike what you want.
  14. I mean "narrative economy" is not an obligatory criteria for art. There is a great history in art for neglecting it completely. If that is obviously a choice of the artist to do so, it's wrong to demand it. It's like complaining about the lack of colour by a BW movie. I meant not that gantz and all end have the same structure, only that both have structure.
  15. No they're not. They just require a different type of listening. Why do you blame your impatience on the track? Where on your self-indulgence-scale would be Sederunt principes by Pérotin? Eine kleine Nachtmusik by Mozart? Movements for Orchestra by Webern? String Quartet II by Feldman? Sorry if I'm attacking too hard on this, but I can't stand this "self indulgence" criterium against art. I often read it in reviews of Malick-movies, and just don't understand it. I think it's ridiculous. There is the term l'art pour l'art. In art there is a place for just being what it is. It's false to criticise it with "self indulgence": to turn something aesthetical in negative, you know? You should accept them for the experience what they are and not expect something they aren't. For what it is, all end is perfectly paced and structured. No difference from Gantz Graf.
  16. Every art is self-indulgent.
  17. Where do you put the Eggshell? da-bumtsss
  18. 'Scintili': first time listen... Woaaah! WOOOOAH!!!

I think some of the tDR covers are great too. Tri Repetae, Chiastic Clide, LP5, Exai are great. Hell, I even like the covers of Quaristice and Oversteps covers a lot!

Yes, Oversteps reminds on Malevitch or on japanese kalligraphy. But not on other Ae covers.
