  1. People in India can, though. Indonesia, with around 10% of its population vaccinated, is on the brink of not having to imagine either.
  2. Then move to one of the ones on that list ?
  3. upstanding members of the international community all.
  4. Yeah, you’re right. They already tried once before. Let’s hope Xi isn’t going to attempt to one up Mao on this.
  5. A proud Chinese tradition, btw. Thumbs up. For the slackers, of course, not for the uncultured yokels in the CCP that are trying to suppress what is simply the latest iteration of an ancient and very persistent thread in Chinese thought. What are they going to do next? Ban the Zhuang Zi? Outlaw Taoism?
  6. Eraser Men: censoring the roads of the Tour de France https://www.rouleur.cc/blogs/the-rouleur-journal/the-eraser-men About the people that make sure you aren’t bombarded with graffiti penises when you watch the TdF (they are paid by the race organizers to turn them into butterflies).
  7. The accusations go a little bit further than "we took some ludes and then we had sex", however.
  8. During what day and age was it ok to drug and rape women? It’s never even been somewhat common, let alone “close to the norm”.
  9. DA made a deal with Cosby that there would be no criminal prosecution, only a civil one (money) provided he would tell them everything he did. Cosby took the deal and told them all the things he did. That was so horrible they decided to prosecute him anyway. While it is perfectly defensible from a moral standpoint that Cosby should do a lot of jail time for his crimes, it most certainly was not for the DA to lie to him about what they were going to do with his testimony. They basically cheated him into incriminating himself, which I believe is not only illegal but also unconstitutional.

Yes, I noticed. Sad to see such a dedicated ornithologist as you once were go.

  12. Let's party like it's ... Aww, fuck it. This is lovely. Balsam for the soul.
  13. Just ... no. I don't think I've ever heard someone cover NIN and made it work. I mean, the songs are good enough by themselves but knowing Trent's incredibly intense (and, admittedly, self-serious) versions exist makes the cover versions seem lame. Not different, not unique, just lame.
  14. Still ... I'd be curious. At least part of the appeal of a good pizza is being prepared in a good oven. For the rest it's just dough, tomato sauce and one or two toppings. Maybe Dr Autechre is really good when baked at 500 degrees C? Who knows?
  15. Had one of those, sold it last year … … and kinda regret I didn’t sellout sooner. I held on to it for twenty years after my last band folded and I can’t for the life of me imagine why. Never really liked the sound. Only redeeming quality it had was that the distortion pot was a bit crummy so it had a specific spot right before the muff effect kicked in where the sound was somewhat acceptable.

  17. As desserts go, crème brûlée is fairly humdrum.

Spoken like someone who has numbers to back this up. (Not doubting you, just curious)
  19. It’s really been done to death.
  20. Just had mine as well. Reception is much improved but my arm is surprisingly sore. Like someone hit it with a baseball bat or something.
