  2. is it anything like Life Outro from Playground in a Lake? that's one of my favorites of his!
  3. Description on Bleep: After Clark developed his lyrical and vocal abilities on his landmark album Sus Dog, his newfound passion for singing has taken on a life of its own, undergoing countless transformations like any of the vibrant sounds he has created thus far. The leadup to that record saw him leaving a “bread crumb trail to future releases” via tantalising snippets of remixes, experiments, and alternate takes, and since its release in May, these edits and versions have had time to blossom into a fully fledged album of their own. Cave Dog amplifies the many rave energies of its predecessor, while also zooming into the immense space hiding between those frenzied moments. Clark’s vocals creep at the edges of more instrumental reworks, then surround them in 360 degree layers. The introductory pair of ‘Vardo’ and ‘Silver Pet Crank’ are a total overhaul right off the bat: the lyrics of ‘Town Crank’ are thrust into a more curious concoction of gently lacerating synth arpeggios “falling off the edge” into a thumping trancelike rhythm, thrumming with strobe light energy as punctuating breakbeats take a left turn into rich low harmonies. The album’s first half is a display of kinetic soundsmithery, like the assembly of synth timbres and melodic pirouettes on ‘Dolgoch Dry As Ash’, or the propulsive four to the floor of ‘Medicine Doves’ tossing harp plucks hither and thither. Its cavernous reverb throws descend into the snarling depths of chamber arrangements, hinting at a comedown from the furore with Cave Dog’s latter tracks, full of rotating piano compositions and avalanches of chorally textured ambience. Dramatic freezes of strings reframe Thom Yorke’s vocals in ‘Oblivious/Portal’, while Clark’s throttle is blurred, smoked, and submerged, highlighting the deep catharsis and trust that Sus Dog was evoking all along. Cave Dog isn’t so much a remix album as it is a further honing of Clark’s craft, and a trip through his musical multiverse.
  4. https://music.apple.com/tr/album/cave-dog/1710254909?ls it's happening!!!!! Dec 1st
  5. This album is so good that im willing to excuse the whole "luxury sonics" nonsense
  6. yeahhhhh tbh i think thats why i mostly listen to older electronic music even if that whole ironic aspect doesnt annoy me it does get a bit bothersome if i listen too much of it
  7. even as a huge fan i gotta say this is easily the best track on Selection Sixteen. i dont love that album very much but im always glad whenever i put it on because theres this at the end
  8. i gave it a shot but i stopped less than halfway through. this is the most nothing sounding record ive heard in a good bit ugh
  9. i just listened to his entire discography (discounting collabs + live albums + soundtracks + Noto bc i didnt have the time though i will go through those sometime next year) to prepare for this ok so ive listened to all the albums except 3 (unitxt, xerrox 4 & first HYbr:ID) once so take this with a grain of salt but i think this is on par with Xerrox, Vol. 4 for me which is my favorite release of his. feels less emotional than that one but he also more than makes up for it by including an interesting texture in every track. just absolutely wonderful stuff
  10. i wonder when people here will start accepting that Warp Records is no longer just IDM anymore like i completely understand hating the album but ffs also i really do not see why variety is so awful esp when said variety is still electronic music
  11. well this is one of the best Warp releases of the year imo just absolutely gorgeous with some truly pummelling moments... i think On Embers might be one of the best openers of the year (even though i feel like Ultra wouldve fit perfectly as an opener) thumbs up all the way!!!!
  12. this one clicked pretty recently i used to think it was just that i still think its pretty silly but in a far more positive light than before i love how it sounds like a cave
  13. ok i sat down with no expectations and listened to it ugh i really wish i could call it great but there are a few moments like the second half of On An Axis and the core tune of Memories of Music that i just REALLY did not care for also thought World Outside was a little too bombastic im guessing that's where the GoD influence comes in the rest is quite excellent though i wont lie. i claimed Plastic Antique when the album was announced and sure enough that one absolutely rules. I really love the usage of glitchy textures on this album they give it an extremely uncanny feeling. at the moment i think this is my 3rd favorite of his but i heard r+7 for the first time REALLY recently and ive started to see the potential in it on my last listen so who knows (sorry i really like ranking stuff lol) but yeah slightly frustrating album but has some of his best music yet.
  14. im really hoping that he makes another Techno record after this one S/T and Death Peak are absolutely fantastic imo
  15. ok ill be completely honest i have been going through his discography this month and i thought MOPN was better than anything he had prev released besides maybe Replica so im starting to be a little worried
  16. one of my favorites of his for sure!
  17. oh same!!!!! i relistened to it this summer and it clicked more than it ever did. i now consider it to be one of sp's most heavily underrated albums (along with just a souvenir and d'demonstrator).
  18. yeah i didnt really need to comment apologies
  19. i get being frustrated over vocals but wow this is too much LOL
  20. I wonder if he still plans on releasing those versions of Sus Dog tracks he posted before the album I think someone asked him and in an IG post about it and he said something along the lines of yes but that was a few weeks before/after (?) the record iirc
  21. im confident Exai 2 is coming considering how SIGN & PLUS were Oversteps & Move of Ten in many different ways respectively
  22. theneedledrop (i no longer watch him) put T69 Collapse in the Best Tracks of the Week section of his Weekly Track Roundup series when it came out I really liked the song so I decided to check out the EP as soon as it was out thank you!!!!!
