  1. wait till shit hits the fan on fauci & everyone at WHO and its global chain of command
  2. well technically it is progress. i don't know what exactly is going on under the bonnet of this chatgpt, but you can't deny some sort of progress has been made there. if nothing else, it's a very efficient data mining algorithm. it's a progress of a very narrow focal point of the owning class (as you put it). and i guess i don't have to tell what they are all about. at first i thought that maybe a general access to this technology might even the playing field a bit, but i caught myself wanting to be naive again: even if openai is made public and accessible to all and yadayada, the investors will surely get the more powerful version of it. so... i guess we, the citizens, should be more concerned about the money stolen from us. if the new financial crisis hits (has it already? idk), make sure we don't get to bail the fuckers out again. we should really be more proactively vigilant
  3. ahaha nice tnx would be interesting to write a response to that and see what churns out
  4. well US will be US. they seek to maintain their dominance in world affairs, and will always look only after their own interest. Any other nation (China in this case) would do the same. Nothing good comes out of pursuing that goal. And US is as dirty as anyone will ever be. However, don't be naive to think that Putin would go easy on Ukraine if the annexation happened without the western interference. And don't think Putin would stop there. If anything, without western interference, Putin would be encouraged to take more and more land. Where does it stop? One must look further back into history (but not too far) to understand what actually is happening here. There was a time when EU and Putin tried to be friends. It was a mutual desire, Putin himself officially expressed a wish to join the EU. Do you know who disrupted this? USA. A sovereign EU (that is, without being basically a vassal state of USA as it is now) in a close alliance with Russia (not necessarily a member state of EU) would be a very strong entity in global affairs. And if you count in relatively close alignment of China and Russia -- a tripartite pact like that, the status of USA is seriously threatened. Obviously, they will never stand for that. Even if that pact was strictly benevolent on the world stage, USA simply would not stand for it, because they would not be able to operate from a position of strength in negotiations as they are used to. They are just not built like that. Never gonna happen. Not even in the wildest nightmares. Enter Putin as a solo player. A Stalin fanboy, a paranoid brute, he is not capable of delegating to competent people. He is afraid of them. It's the world he was brought up in, it's the doctrine he's fanboying for. He had good diplomatic options initially (that is before Chechniya, Georgia, or Ukraine debacles), a blank paper to write on, so to speak. He failed miserably at diplomacy, where he could gain much by soft, indirect leverage. He would never need to take a single plot of land. Today, everything is business. He could've established a reasonably good democracy, leave the Kremlin on a good standing and good prospects. But this was never his domain, so we can safely say he would never have succeeded going that way. That is not to say that the 'good' Putin would never face fierce opposition from USA. About Ukraine, this unfortunate amalgam of nations with her borders drawn by a foreign committee (just like the Middle-East after Sykes-Picot, and just like Africa) was a powder keg waiting to explode. What is weird to me is that I can't explain to myself such things in any other way but to see them as a deliberate, manufactured kegs, being volatile by design. Nothing is learned from history, that is, if the 'international community concerned' is truly benevolent in their determination to draw these borders. Every time this happens, shit hits the fan at some point later on. One would think that there must be another way. But it's not. It's always the same shit in the end: war. And the profits that come along with it.
  5. I once had a vision, several years ago. That the human population will not be divided by politics anymore, but rather to naturalists vs. technologists. The naturalists will gravitate towards more humble ways of life, more in tune with nature and its cycles, self-sufficient etc, will populate the countryside. While the other will readily embrace all the technological advancement thrown at them, including AI, nanotech, body augmentation, virtual reality, children by genetic design, 3d printed food and soylents, etc. And will live in cities. The 'clash' might come from allocation of living space and contamination of the living space. Also, contamination of the genes. Technologists will see themselves as superior (aided by tech and AI they certainly will be in some ways) and will try to bully / outperform the naturalists.
  6. just discovered her music and she's everything
  7. bro, I really wish I had that kind of money lying around. I'd be doing it in a flash. Shit got really expensive in the last few years. But more than that it's the animals; even buying that plot of land wont bring back a deer family that came there every early morning for their 'breakfast'. Now his stupid greedy fence cut them off too. This is what really gets me, you know.
  8. I enjoyed it too. It ended ambiguous which is ok, but it bothered me that Joel turned out quite a self-centered asshole even after all that shit he went through with Ellie. One would think he could overcome himself and find personal / moral courage, but I guess the character was supposed to be a bad man with no redeeming quality and personal growth potential. I haven't played the game, so idk how that plays into the lore.
  9. it might even make picking up trash a trendy and cool stuff to do, you never know (but that was probably the art director's pitch to the board anyways)
  10. it really is one of those moments - it used to be such a nice place with plenty of nature around (still is one of the most beautiful parts, but is becoming less so with all this new construction). i have very good relations with other neighbors, but when they start to multiply, i guess that statistical effect comes into play or something. i was living in the city for more than 10 years and kind of got tired of it. some people thrive in cities, but i just can't. if you feel like moving into more rural areas, i'd say it's more than worth to overcome the logistical issue.
  11. speaking about neighbors... fwp for me is def a new-old neighbor who already has a house about 50 m further up the road from my place, but has now decided to buy land (a patch of woodland to be precise) a stonethrow away from me. this happened last year, and the first thing he did was put a two-meter perimeter fence around it (effectively blocking off my access to the woods for which i will eternally despise him). with the year coming around, and along with it the warm seasons, the construction of his NEW house in that woodland patch has now commenced. of course this being rugged terrain with the shallow soil, the machines already hit the bedrock today. which means another spring/summer of pneumatic hammering from dawn till dusk. yay! super excited to listen to this racket for the fifth consecutive year! to top it off he is a prime arrogant asshole loaded with money and i will be able to look at his smug face through my window 24/7! i'm seriously considering to buy the patch of land between us just to prevent this parvenu idiot from spreading and cutting more trees, but more importantly, the area where i live apparently became a hot spot for new family house constructions so it will only get worse year after year. buying that patch of land (which is currently registered as a farm land) will ensure that no new construction will begin next to my house and with it more destruction of nature. but i really don't have to the spare money to be doing this so idk
  12. i'm quite hooked on the last of us ngl and it's only two eps left, but i guess it's for the best because things like that tend to lose the momentum didn't play the games or read the book (is there a book?), and didn't consume much of this genre in general so everything is kind of fresh to me which is great!
  13. a better option for putin would be diplomacy, of course, but he is forever tainted by his secret service pedigree and his cloak-and-dagger modus operandi and would never be able to gain enough trust in the international arena to pull off his agenda. even when he put medvedev as his avatar, he wasn't successful at all because it's too obvious. but in the end, any country leader that is not USA, that would try his hand with any form of imperialist land grab (economic or diplomatic) would be marked as a hostile imperialist (or other bad guy title), because, let's be frank: only USA is allowed to overthrow regimes by any means necessary (economic, diplomatic, covert, or military). i'm not saying that putin should be allowed because of USA (as in, if they can do it, let him do it too). all i'm saying is NO ONE should be allowed. but the world is such, that is ruled by the strongest who will use all means necessary to keep that power in check. and i know for a fact that alliance with USA is not really an alliance, but rather a very hard bargain always primarily in favor of US strategic goals.
  14. but there's a man in a spacesuit!!!11! jk i enjoyed Station Eleven too, i think the non-linear story timeline was done well and everything ties up nicely. great performances from everyone too, especially the girl who plays young Kirsten - she's phenomenal. the story explores concepts of love and family on many levels, and the overall tone is right. immersive / 10
  15. Kalpol Introl sets the mood for Incunabula so well + the Bike track is superb, that I mostly listened to just these two in succession only. But overall, Amber was always one of my favorites.
  16. Rouge Heroes I'm three eps in and it's already a bore. How is it possible to make such an interesting story so boring? It's basically a military recruitment ad disguised as a rock'n'roll music video with slo-mo badass walking and half-tone screen stencils. Rock'n'roll music has as much to do with guerilla desert warfare against Rommel as my father has with cooking. Fucking Z.E.R.O. So many pointless scenes too! Can't a man enjoy ONE bloody thing these days?
  17. i wish i could see this for the first time again; i was fascinated and melted into this narrative and visual poetry; it's a memory of a profound time in my life...
  18. you know how the story goes bitches and hoes bitches and hoes bitches and hoes bitches and hoes it's all about bitches and hoes bitches and hoes bitches and hoes bitches and hoes
