I know some people who say Incunabula-Amber era and that is the only releases by Autechre they will ever listen to. These people is mostly the same people who only likes Aphex Twin's Selected Ambient Works 85-92 and are into Depeche Mode or Soft Electro in spare time. What do these releases have in comon? Well there is Roland synths all over the place for the people who is familiar with that. It is very gently for the ear specially the Juno-Chords, Strings and Pad layers combined with Midiverb reverb effects. My advice for the people who can't listen to something else: Life is filled with other sounds than just oldschool Roland synths and drum machines. Try explore more even if it's hard in the beginning!

So nice answers! I see a really good "breakthru" with Chiastic Slide - Cichlisuite - LP5 That is their 97-98 era and their sound evolved so much. I have to listen to these 3 releases again tomorrow because here is really intresting.. When you have listen to their previous releases before CS and you sit down and open up CS with opening track Cipater it is like totally different from everything else. It was a big "unfair" but intresting voting on Facebook Autechre group when track VS track pool was going on and I think Rae stole that show. I kind of get that because that track is one of the most representing Autechre track or "sound" as it could be. This is just me digging deep in Autechre's work and Im happy to hear your thoughts!

Now I have made the ultimate AE playlist with almost everything released. Not gonna listen to youtube-quality bad recordings of live shows ofc but around 100 hours of Autechre material.. From Lego Feet MC-202 TR-606 patterns to their first big hit Incunabula straight into ambience with Amber, ANTI EP and the beast TRI REP and end everything with SIGN-PLUS. This gonna take a long time but I while sleep in between ofc. My goal is to find the sweet spot of their era! I want to find the ultimate golden sound sculptures they manage to do. But first: WHAT AE ERA WAS YOUR FAVOURITE AND WHY? Im asking this questions because i want to pay more attention to your thoughts. CHEERS WATMM!

For me I say SIGN is the best of them but the PLUS is cool as well. What stuff are they using in these albums more than MAX? It sounds more "musical" than previous releases.

I just wonder what the heck all those mixers, EQs, FXs routings, Samplers and recorder devices do to the sound when the result is exteremly clean and mastered to perfection.. I mean doesn't the sound lose alot of that analogue gear jizz? And what is all that complicated patch programing? 1 month of patching together with a enginering dude to get a detuned lead? ?
