  1. Can you leave JE out of this now that he no longer posts here?
  2. I've had that same scotch actually! err... whisky. Picked it up on the way home from hong kong airport. Did you like it? Do they sell it in Canada? I imagine they must, I picked it up on the plane on the way back from Japan. I like it very much, Hakushu produces some fine whiskeys. I wanted to get the Yamazaki 17yr old, but they only had the limited edition at duty free, that was about $400 CDN, so I gave it a pass this time lol. Had the bowmore 12yr old last night. Very easy going scotch, not too heavy on the peat. Good for a light session. Not one of those scotch and cigar deep philosophical conversation type scotches.
  3. I don't know about the out of sync ones, but don't people pitch things up/down to avoid the automatic copyright detection bot?
  4. Finally got around to cracking this open. Lovely on a brisk (for Vancouver) night.
  5. Fuck, next series of Better Call Saul doesn't come out until February of next year.
  6. Someone needs to photoshop trump into a "winter is coming" image. Except maybe it could say "mexicans are coming"
  7. Just went to read the Worldwide Caution for US travelers. Jesus no wonder people are scared to leave the US. There be dragons out there!
  8. Cool runnings mon. That's the thing with Namlook - his discog is immense, and it's 99% wonderful. It's like Uwe Schmidt, who I just discoverd did an album with Tetsu Inoue and Bill Laswell called "Second Nature". Oh and there's another Namlook collab that's amazing - his work with Tetsu Inoue. Shades of Orion, 2350 Broadway, Time2, and 62 Eulengasse. Time2 is a little weaker, but the other stuff is mmm good. Especially 2350 Broadway II and 62 Eulengasse. Wonderful wonderful ambience.
  9. Better than the pilot? I wasn't a huge fan of the pilot. things are starting to heat up, plot-wise, Rufus Sewell is the best thing about it so far, he does that ruthless, calm, calculating, black-caped Reich disciple brilliantly although all the episodes are online now. The pilot had that awful frame-rate buffle that meant it kept ticking, plus it didnt really offer a lot other than a prologue. Visually its a lot more sumptuous, the details are starting to flesh out, but it differs a LOT from the structure of the novel. Hopefully Robert Childan and his angst are going to make an appearance soon, cos it was his intro in the book that 1st drew me into the world of PKD. W/out him i'd be completely gutted. ps: imdb seems to confirm no Robert Childan,,,,,,, which means no "Childan racked his brains." Aggggggggghhhhhhhhhhhhh Hmmm I'm 50/50 on whether to continue. I'm not sure if I can take another PKD novel ruined by hack screenwriters. But interested to see how they flesh out the world. Also heard London Spy was really good from a coworker, who has reasonable taste.
  10. I've done some stuff on labour, although most of my inequality readings have been directed readings. Some MGSC is interesting to me, stuff like Risk Analysis and Crisis Management. Other stuff like HR makes my balls tighten up.
  11. I thought we were leaving politics out of this thread?
  12. WOAH BIOSHPHERE AND PETE NAMLOOK MADE MUSIC TOGETHER!? Can't tell if serious....but yes, and both of the albums are really good :) As is just about everything Pete Namlook did - his collab with Higher Intelligence Agency is also really good. Gotta give a shout out to this guy, who's a recent discovery for me: https://stabilo-loadbang.bandcamp.com/ All pay what you want.
  13. Better than the pilot? I wasn't a huge fan of the pilot. Started watching Bloodline - first three episodes, then realized that it's essentially a soap opera where they can swear and show people kind of fucking. Boring as shit, cannot understand comparisons to Breaking Bad or True Detective.
  14. #DadProblems I kno rite? omg. New FWP: having problems synthesizing all my research into a digestible product. Ugh, word limits.
  15. Think I ground my coffee too fine this morning.
  16. Just shows that attitudes really haven't changed all that much in 70+ years. http://www.vox.com/policy-and-politics/2015/11/19/9760060/refugees-history-holocaust http://fortune.com/2015/11/18/fortune-survey-jewish-refugees/
