  1. every time I see the abbreviation smh I imagine it stands for "so much hate" but that obviously isn't it. I like it though, and it almost fits most of the time, in a slightly uncalled for way. Can't think of what it might actually stand for, and I refuse to look these things up since it's far more satisfying to have that eureka moment. Of course I'm sure one of you will ruin it for me now that it's in the open. Smh.
  2. I recall my friend being really stoked on the fact that their guitarist did backflips on a trampoline while playing guitar during their live show. It's what the kids today are missing.
  3. Progginess aside, I'd say they fit the nu-metal archetype pretty much bang on. The vocals are like an amalgam of all the other NM singers put together, the stutter rhythm guitar riffs... The one element which really sticks out as odd for the genre is the jazzy fretless bass stuff. Those guitar riffs made me think of these guys, who I totally forgot about: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pp7Zih3HpjE Which makes me think of these guys: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Zxv-Q_hhiSo Black vocalists in metal bands are pretty much always awesome.
  4. My dad saw me pour a glass of egg nog once, which prompted him to comment "how can you drink that - doesn't its consistency remind you of... nevermind." The store bought stuff is rather cummy I must agree.
  5. loled at new variation on distracted boyfriend meme and wound-pisser.
  6. I would omit one o so that it was carbon stereoxide. Great track title really.
  7. Back when I still checked in it was always a mix of occult fetishism and BBQ anecdotes with irony sprinkles.
  8. I never actually heard it, but it was on my radar. All the people I knew who were into that scene seemed to agree that those guys were on another level in terms of musicianship vs. other bands in the genre. omg that Vanilla Ice makeover is hilarious. I think he would have really thrived in that scene were he not already a household punchline. Incubus Science was funky as hell. They were really a funk-metal band initially, then turned into more of a commercial alt rock thing... sort of a RHCP play by play. I'm sure they were influenced by some NM shit, but it didn't really takeover their sound, just informed it a bit along with their other influences. I never want to hear that Drive song again tho.
  9. Hmmm, I never thought of Incubus as Nu Metal, more alternative rock. Didn't really think of Deftones that way either, though I suppose they kind of fit the template in the riffs department.
  10. I find it extremely difficult to imagine a major third being sung and held over a minor chord.
  11. Absolutely godawful Completely logical though. It's everything I've ever heard in a Prodigy song with a few trendy production updates. The musical setup is Firestarter/Smack my Bitch Up. It's too bad they didn't really progress artistically since then. Daft Punk's a good example of an artist that started from a similar place but has gone through a few pretty significant artistic shifts since then, all executed extremely well. Oh wow... just checked Wikipedia and DP only have those 4 albums. Here I thought I just heard a few works in their discog. Well I guess that's what happens when every album treads new terrain. Lookin' at you too, Portishead.
  12. Oh yeah, quite right. Forgot about them. They'd probably be right after Korn in terms of iconic status.
  13. Sorry to interrupt, but if I may backpedal a bit- That Axl reggae loop really nails it. If I were to start a YT loop channel, every vid would be shooting for that level of quality. The yodel one would have been strong if the song built for a bit, but then looped on a couple choice measures that really hit hard. When an entire song loops you can forget you're even listening to a loop. Not enough loopiness. More of less is more.
  14. This is basically the nu metal thread. So who do you reckon are the Big 4 of nu Metal? Korn, obviously... Limp Bizkit, probably... Slipknot? Papa Roach? Mudvayne? Nah, they never really exploded in the same way... they were for more advanced hipster nu-metallers. Coal Chamber? I'm going to go with Korn, LB, Slipknot and Papa Roach. That encapsulates the era pretty well. Fear Factory dabbled a fair bit with Nu Metal ideas on Digimortal. That was actually a pretty interesting blend of tech/death/industrial metal with nu. It was a bold move.
  15. I'm disappointed with the music loop vids out there, where someone takes a section of a song and loops it for 1-10 hours. No one ever chooses the most optimal loop points that would lead to the most hilarious results. I might have to start a youtube channel for this express purpose, since no one else seems to be getting it right.

  18. Refried beans are a conspiracy. I'm not at all convinced those beens have been fried before, and you should at least give me the option of just regular fried beans.
  19. Ahaha that one random photo that got targeted for this free fb ad campaign is getting an ordinate amount of attention now... like 150 reactions to this really banal still frame from our vid shoot. Dumb. Good to know this sort of thing actually works tho. Maybe we'll deliberately promote something else in the future.
  20. i'm generation X i think.. no one talks about us anymore.. we're the middle child watching the millenials and baby boomers fight it out. Yeah it's weird how we had like 5 years of attention during grunge, and then everybody forgot Gen X was a thing. I was born too but no one cares. It's all grandma vs. babies.
