alright, so the combined power of watmm changed my opinion of the flaming lips. but can it change my opinion of this mediocre indie lounge trash? i bet it can't. have they ever made an exciting album? don't tell me slanted and enchanted is good because you're lying. only 40 year old record store clerks and music journalists like this band, and they don't actually like this band.

wow, you let a message board change your opinion?

weak sauce man.

Pavement: Slanted&Enchanted, Westing By Musket and Sextant, Crooked Rain Crooked Rain are all you need by them.

Great music for kicking back to.

'Crooked Rain...' could easily go in the great album no filler thread. But Pavement would be a great band even if the only song they'd ever produced was Shady Lane.

quite simply my favourite band.ever I'm chuffed to bits just to see them get a thread all to themselves on watmm. and I ain't a 40 something journo.

I am a 31 y.o Accountant......take from that what you will.

However being a number cruncher, I am not the person best suited to gush eloquently about the sheer greatness of this band. Try Wowee Zowee its my personal favourite. or the below songs not on S&E.

box elder

i love perth

shoot the singer

grounded

father to a sister of thought.

they started out trying to emulate the fall (no bad thing) had two drummers (no bad thing).

please invest some more time in wowee zowee & Slated & Enchated you shall be greatly rewarded.

Best avoid most of Malkmus's solo stuff and he's has now been spotted sporting a moustache. say no more.

Errr IMO slanted&enchanted is much better thann crooked rain^2

In the mouth a desert, summer girl, trigger cut...all classics..

although Shady Lane is a hell of a catchy tune, and I guess it got them a lot of exposure...along with "Cut your hair"

no, the solo stuff is great. but you should make your way through pavement first before delving into malkmus and the jicks.

CRCR and S&E will be most people's recommendations, for good reason. but they didn't really put a bad album out. Their worst albums are still pretty awesome.

i also really love the 4 track e.p. Watery, Domestic.

"someone took....in.these.pants." fucking great

CRCR v. S&E will be an ongoing debate amongst pavement fans til the end of time.

S&E fans will say that that album presents the band at their purest, a burst of raw, brilliant energy.

CRCR fans will say that S&E showcased the band's brilliant potential while CRCR delivered on the promise.

they're both great, but i fall into camp #2.
