at the end of the movie the main character wakes up to find the whole ordeal was just an awful nightmare...until he turns on his bedside lamp and discovers that he actually did marry the devil, who is played by Michael Clarke Duncan. the last shot is of the devil's burning hot lava-semen being shot into the main character's mouth, nose, and eyes at 400 mph, at which point his face melts. fade to white.

the elevator to hell malfunctions at the end and devil can't do his work. he facepalms himself when he realizes he should have used an escalator because a disabled escalator can still be stairs. bonus dvd ending is m night voluntarily walking down those stairs.

LOL I spewed out the above cynicism before I watched the trailer and saw the tagline EVERYTHING HAPPENS FOR A REASON :facepalm:

where did this start? i recall hearing it on the tele or in a movie, i always refer to m. knight by this particular nym. did i pick up on this thought via our universal consciousness? (as i'm sure m. knight shamalamadingdong is laughed upon universally)

the twist is that it's still vietnam, and the Ottomans are burning their coal mountains. but ptolemy was really copernicus, so it's got irony.
