Nic Cage

This thread is designed to house all Cage questions, pictures, statements and respect.

For Example:

Is it just me, or does he mainly revenge films these days? It seems that for every big film he does, he does about three low budget ones where he plays a burnt out cop trying to find the criminal who killed his daughter. Which is completely at odds with the fact he seems like a friendly, very weird guy. Not really complaining though; for some reason I find joy in seeing him on screen, and if he's poorly cast or the film is terrible its even better.

how is this thread not about his doing shrooms with his cat?

The 46-year-old 'Bad Lieutenant' star explained: “The cat ate them voraciously.” For the actor it was very clear that he could not leave the animal alone during his crazy drug trip: “So I thought what the heck, I better do it with him.”

And the result: “I remember lying on my bed FOR HOURS and Lewis was on the desk across my bed and we just stared at each other FOR HOURS.”

They looked at each other like this, high, for ages, until he had a sudden realisation: “I had no doubt that he was my brother!”

I think there are two Cages - there's "Nic Cage" who shows up for shitty action films, usually overacting (though, it works, because these films DEMAND overacting), and I would include the National Treasure movies in this category (along with Face-off, the Rock, Con-Air, etc).

Then there's "Nicholas Cage" who shows up with some wicked acting chops (Leaving Las Vegas, friggin' Adaptation, Kick Ass, etc), applying subtlety to the performance and, generally, making you wonder who fuck is that other "Nic Cage" guy in all those shitty action movies who looks like he couldn't act his way out of a paper bag.

Maybe they're twins, and Adaptation really was acted by both of them, with Charlie Kauffman's brother being played by the dumber, more actiony, "Nic Cage." Wait. Holy shit. That's so meta.

Seriously agreed, once I saw adaptation and was blown away, I was kind of amazed at how Cage gets put in such shitty family/action films (because that was all I had seen him in up to that point). Goes to show that actors can only go so far when dealing with p.o.s. scripts and schlocky directors
