Freemasonry

Recommended Posts

I'm from the UK, yet I live in Canada (context).

My grandfather in Norfolk is a freemason, my godfather is actually quite high up in the freemasons as well.

I just found out my colleague is in the masons here in Montreal. I am half way through reading The Freemasons by Jasper Ridley.

I am contemplating joining the freemasons.

Thoughts on the Masons?

I petitioned the Freemasons twice and went through the initial hoopla of being sat down and questioned by a group of people about various ideological beliefs, then we all laughed about it and cracked a beer and I met a few of their GFs/families at a barbeque. When it came time to go through the first rite, I had kinda forgotten and didn't have any nice slacks to wear so I said fuck it. About a year later I did the same thing, including the last part. I don't think they're gonna deal with me anymore but it's nice to know they would have let me in. I was told numerous times by folks in the lodge that they're definitely aiming for world domination (the lodge I was gonna join is mostly musicians and young people, was cool but like I said: too lazy for civic duty at this juncture)

according to wikipedia there are more fremasons then members of watmm xltronic and braindance forum combined (i am guessing here), that should say about how "elite" this club is though

Who controls the British crown?

Who keeps the metric system down?

We do! We do!

Who leaves Atlantis off the maps?

Who keeps the Martians under wraps?

We do! We do!

Who holds back the electric

Who makes Steve Gutenberg a star?

We do! We do!

Who robs cavefish of their sight?

Who rigs every Oscar night?

We do! We do!

I'ld fail on the first question.

There isnt much reason for it these days. Why pretend to be the holder of information, when the rest of us have wikipedia.Saying that, the grand lodge is worth a visit as it has some fairly impressive decoration.

I want to join the club on the cover of Frankenchrist, the one with the tiny cars, that looks fun.

My Great Grandfather was a member of a lodge in Oxfordshire that followed Buffaloism. No idea what that involves though

I have a friend who's a mason. He's about 25, making friends in high places, like police chiefs, politicians, etc. It seems a bit cultish, though. At least the group he's in. I ask him what he fuck is it exactly that the Freemasons do and I never really get a straight answer.
