Aw man... Planet Mu? That means either Mike has updated his artist signing criteria again, or this Machine Drum album is not going to be going in the direction I hoped he would go.

What direction are you hoping he'll go in? I think it's steadily been changing since his early days but it'll remain hiphop-centric.

Well, it just makes me nervous, because Mu has been releasing almost exclusively footwork and dubstep recently, and I just have a feeling that this album is going to be like Want To 1 2 with grime in it. I want him to keep being experimental, and heavily hip-hop oriented, and who knows, I might be pleasantly surprised ultimately.

I only have Urban Biology and Half The Battle but I have listened to those albums a shit ton. I was looking to get some more original Machine Drum but mostly all I've seen online is his remixes of mainstream rap etc.

I investigated him a few years ago and decided he was boring, what stuff should I listen to? I remember a track called Stevie Bam Jackson that had an amazing cover by Landau Orchestra and also a Kettel remix which both seemed to blow the original out of the water

Syndrone is pretty good, very confield or phonecia brownout-ish. I would not recommend Urban Biology to someone who hasn't heard machinedrum, i think it's probably one of his weakest works of what i've heard. I like his later stuff that isn't so stutter/edit heavy. Although on Syndrone i think a lot of that stuff is done very well almost psychedelic. the whole technique of just throwing glitchy fills on a too clean almost sterile breakbeat sound with not much meat on it never really appealed to me

Sacred Frequency EP clips

I read the description before I actually listened to the tracks, and I was facepalming, but the samples actually sound pretty damn good. Although I have to say, I will be skipping Flycatcha sometimes when I listen to this EP probably.

first track on that sounds great

Absolutely. Sounds like a Hudmo + Rustie + Lone collaboration more than it sounds like him lol. Not that that's a bad thing.

i would love to see Machinedrum merge the Syndrone and this style together. I feel too often artists who under so many different compartmentalized monikers play it too safely. ok cunts lets have some syndrone juke!

not I, i could probably look it up but ill let you tell me what it is

edit: just checked some of it out, sounds like a much more dancefloor friendly Burial inspired wood blocky garage thing, is this him or something?

not really feeling it
