I played Bocuma followed Roygbiv to a friend of mine the other day. His exact words were

" Wow, even by your strange standards that was complete utter shit, that was really poor man "

Needles to say I was rendered completely speechless. And I would be lying if I said I wasn't a teeny weeny offended.

yeah my dad had a particular objection with 'roygbiv' too. kind of odd.

he doesn't mind most everything i play though he doesn't like it much. but both times i've played BoC he's remarked that it sounds like it was made on a 'cheap computer program.'

i love that album as much today as i did in 06

favorite used to be 'turquoise hexagon sun'

now it's probably 'aquarius'

followed by... 'rue the whirl'

that's funny, as it wasn't released until 1998. :)

Anyway, enough of my friend.

Oddly I have been this playing this album more than ever, just of late. Sometimes twice a day in full. I have fallen in love with this track more than ever.

i recognised a track from this on Horizon the other night and suddenly remembered how lush and grainy and beautiful their sound used to be. was instantly transported back to 1999, smoking a spliff and wasting time on my lunch breaks... sat in my car in the rain.

the program was entitled "are we still evolving"... funnily enough.

can't remember the name of the track, but it was one of their short ditties. was nice.

what I remember about Smokes Quantity when I first listened:

Sitting there while the swirling synths were going on... no reaction.

Beats Kick in... looked over at my friend and said "AWWWWWE YEAH!" and we both head nodded as if we were listening to the Wu Tang!

We dubbed the track "Nuts Quantity" that day.
