Stopped caring after the travesty that was Halo Reach.

Maybe it's just nostalgia talking, but Halo 2 was just so much better. Better maps, less gimmicks, simpler gameplay. After Halo 3, it all got a bit... meh. Whatever, I might pick this up when it drops in price or something.

I really like Halo, huge fan of the series. It's probably one of the few shooter series, where I actually truly enjoy the campaign. The AI is way smarter than most games. And it's more fun fighting the various enemy types in Halo, than some terrorists or whatever human enemy types most shooters have these days. I enjoy the multiplayer as well, it's a lot more skill based than most shooters. It's not just about having quick reflexes. But the one thing that's always been dissapointing in Halo games is the story, it's usually shit (don't know about Halo 4). It's a shame because it's actually a very interesting universe.

I also really like the art direction in the Halo games, some the environments are quite spectacular.

I haven't bought Halo 4 yet, but I will as soon as I'm done with AC3.

It's probably nostalgia. I hated Halo 2. I used to play Halo 1 competitively. I liked Reach a lot because it was the most like the first game, at least in the way the weapons feel.

Honestly, all of them pale in comparison to the original Halo.

If I hear enough good things about the game, I'll get Halo 4. I don't have much faith though.

lol halo

/pc master gaming race

lol what a peasant. Idort master race enjoys vidya regardless of the platform

And by the way I'm more of a Bungie fan than a Halo fan, so I'm probably going to pass on this one. Reach was already dissapointing tho

the level design, gameplay, (and AI in the single player) for the first two halo games has yet to be matched by any FPS released since. also they're both on PC, so if you have a PC and like games you should download them.

halo 3 had really fun combat, but the brutes replacing the elites as your main enemy, unskippable plot elements popping up while you're playing the later, harder levels (all the cortana & flood shit), and the vehicle levels feeling more narrow pathed and not as sandboxy as levels in the first two games made it not quite as good.

halo 3's multiplayer was some of the most fun online gaming experience i've had.

I agree that the first halo was probably the best. I really enjoyed reach though, the load out system was cool despite armor lock. the maps were great as well. halo 4 is good so far, though it has basically turned into call of duty. it has a totally different feel than any of the bungee games, not necessarily in a good way. are there really only like 4 maps for team slayer? hopefully there will be user made maps introduced eventually, like in reach. I'll definitely be putting my time into this one.

halo 1 masterpiece on every level

halo 2 classic on every level

fuck it, Halo 3 was pretty fun too.

Halo 4 looks pretty stinkin' awesome. Looks like a return to form. I played 3 a shitload, don't get me wrong. I just think it got pretty stinkin' old after a while and what's worse, it wasn't as good as 2, which was much more anarchistic, which is what makes online games memorable. 3 kind of flatlined after a while and the maps weren't nearly as good.. neutered

If i remember correctly, the guy at gamestop said DLC packs are gonna available very very soon! Which means more maps. They actually redid Valhalla from Halo 3 and renamed it "Ragnarok" which is a great name. I wonder if it was inspired by final fantasy? I agree with the CoD aspect you mentioned and i totally agree. To be honest, I'm diggin' it.

THE ARMOR TOO DOE

SO SHMEXY

"I wonder if it was inspired by final fantasy?"

wat.

Ragnarok is kind of a recurring name for weapons and ships in that series. I really doubt it was named after final fantasy (just wanted to pick out the FF fans on this site hehe)

EDIT: summons as well

Norse mythology, dawg.

"Valhalla is Odin's hall located in Asgard. It was also home of the Einherjar, who were the souls of the greatest warriors."

"The Old Norse word "ragnarök" is a compound of two words. The first is ragna, the genitive plural of regin ("gods" or "ruling powers"), derived from the reconstructed Proto-Germanic term *ragenō. The second word, rök, has several meanings, such as "development, origin, cause, relation, fate, end.""

Ragnarok is a remake of Valhalla, so coming up with another Norse-related name makes sense. Nothing to do with FF.

I played Halo Reach once, and was distracted by Cheese. I traded it in for Borderlands 2.

I won't be getting 4.

  • 3 weeks later...

Played my two first mp games of Halo 4 today.

Overall it feels a lot faster than previous Halo games. And not just because of sprinting.

The respawning is faster, walking is faster, other players has to take slightly less shots. And I quite like that. I'm not sure if it's true, but that's how it felt like.
