Fuckup of the Year

Omg, my 11 y/o kid really likes that track in the video posted. Should I tell him to never listen to it again. Should I even tell him what the rapper did? Is he going to kill me? No. What a fucking role model this guy is for his fans. I wish mainstream rap wasn't so fucking retarded, because the beats are somewhat banging.

I mentioned this to my wife and she reminded me of this Wired article about Chicago gangs and how social media is a major aspect of their turf wars and crime. http://www.wired.com/underwire/2013/09/gangs-of-social-media

All of his social media accounts are up, and flooded with angry and snarky comments. This guy wasn't some hardened thug - his mom ran a successful salon as well. Maybe that's why I'm even more shocked, this isn't some story they emerged from a extremely impoverished project or ghetto with only a few pictures and videos associated with it. This guy and his peers have jobs and bu all appearances seem normal.

There's always been a fine line between actual gang members and criminals and non-criminal hip-hop artists. That's nothing new. What I find fascinating and disturbing it that the actual divide is harder to distinguish. 10, or even 5 years ago I highly doubt someone with such an internet presence would commit the same crime so brazenly. Like 5 years ago, he might be in a picture online or have a minimal online presence via myspace or youtube, but all this? That's incredible. Psychotic or disturbed? Detached from reality? This was all for money too, not some street cred for a gang - which would of been far more secretive.

He's in for a rude awakening in jail that's for sure.

why is any of this surprising/meaningful? i don't find it that shocking. murders like this happen fairly often, this guy is just young and (i guess) famous, so there's that. of course he uses social media, he's young. he's also clearly an idiot. the whole thing is honestly kind of lol. i don't see how this reflects on any greater issue within hip hop or society at large. browse any news site and you'll find plenty of articles about sons killing mothers, people taking advantage of life insurance policies. shit's been going on forever.

In the video the little douche YoungQC claims ''he's real'' but he looks like Ross from Friends with a Denzel Washington Mission Impossible mask stuck to his face which doesn't quite fit.

yowza mcbowza.

what's it called when you have an immediate, viscerally-negative reaction to something but are also loling helplessly at people riffing on the situation?

???

wow. i actually managed to decode dat:

you should kill for your original gangsta (og) not kill her. what type of unfavorable behavior is that? is it because you're down and out (broke)? i'm shaking my head with disgust - signed, 300

lol.
