"i fuck hate releasing music" - aaron funk

this is exactly the type of comment that made me reach this conclusion

also this hogwash:

"You see, I started making this record in 2010, and then some kind of weird black hole opened up in my studio and sucked everything into it. So I just put that on as the first tune because it was quite meaningful to me. I did that tune and then everything got sucked into the weird void, which left me a little insane for a while"

He does seem consistently contradictory.

Maybe you'll understand where he's coming from when you've been producing meticulous, mind bending IDM masterpieces for over a decade.

He's just dicking around man, you can't take those things he says seriously? =/

i don't think he's dicking around. remember how super touchy he is about people judging his music (refused a WATMM subforum + requested for the venetiansnares.com forum to be closed down)- and how he constantly has to refresh himself that he doesn't care what "people fucking think" about his music

if he truely didn't give a shit (or was saying this tongue in cheek) then i don't think he'd be going around forums requesting that people "kindly" not talk about his music

An interesting interview, especially since it's on resident advisor who usually cater for the techno and house crowds

Yeah good on them, they're arguably a bit snobbish and picky (but not in a bad way)

yeah he can seem like a bit of a pussy. I don't know why, i mean people that talk about him in a forum would by and large care about at least some of his music and by extension the man himself and given that most people of the world probably wouldn't like his music i'd say that that means that he's amongst friends. Maybe he's never had the crushing oppression of real life to deal with so his teenage emo preciousness has never left him, he hasn't been able to fledge so that he can soar, shame. He does seem like he can be quite fun too, when you get past this defensiveness, that's the bit that we need more of. Fucking hell can you imagine if a beethoven or some other composer of yore took this kind of attitude. Maybe back then they had to deal with a lot of people to make their music heard, which obvious was very instructive and educational in getting along with a board cross-section of people.

sorry, i meant to say

Richard: Who the fuck are you to say it's "quite good"? How would you like it if I called your first born a worthless piece of human garbage? Piss off and don't ever contact me again.

this is it. his self portrait is so practised and polished he cannot stand the idea of anyone thinking of him anyhow besides how he thinks of himself. this is why he has to remind you he has "weird dreams the night before" interviews or black holes forming in his studio and swallowing his music

he did the same smoke and mirror act @ vsnares.com until he realized he couldn't control what people were interested in or how some seemed to have their own opinions about which of his albums were better and which weren't as good so he threw a fit and requested for the entire thing to be shut down.

so now the song has changed to telling everyone that he wouldn't even release any album if it weren't for planet-mu pleading for a record to come out every so often just in case anyone gets any ideas about not celebrating the music like the life giving mana sees it as

i just wanna say i was gonna post some things after glancing at that interview, but nebraska already said those things pretty well. i'll just add that for a guy who hates releasing music he sure has released a lot of 'music'.

What good exactly does putting apostrophes around music do?

If this was an interview with Aphex Twin absolutely no one would be challenging his words.

I think they're past that now. Doesn't matter what we say he's not gonna give as any of that (newly minted in the past decade) sweet sweet bleeps and beats.

Also, no hard feelings to vsnares. Just when something's silly it gets called that's all, it's what mets do bro.

But yeah, it's not like a big deal or anything. [-;

it's to signify that i don't really like his 'music'. thought it was pretty obvious tbh
