Equalizing problem
by Guest meneedit- 4 replies
I've run into a problem. I want to do some EQing on a track that I just rendered to remove some nasty freqs. only problem is that some of the chords merge into each other (its an ambient track) and I hate the fact that in a wav editing program all you can do is make a selection and EQ only the selected part. This is a problem because EQ'ing one chord will take some of those frequencies out of the start of the next chord. :( assuming that you guys have also run into this prob, which is the best program for live EQing?

Frequency analysis
by Guest meneedit- 0 replies
Now that I know a fair bit about frequencies I want to get into some really complex frequency manipulation. When It comes to taming harsh frequencies I want to take a new approach and actually determine which frequencies are the worst and which are swelling up really bad. the reason for this is because I find that when you move the knobs around on the FL parametric EQ it jumps around too much and makes it hard to land on specific frequencies. This can usually be solved with parametric equalizing but I wish to actually look at individual frequencies to see which ones peak the highest. I've had a quick look at the frequency analyzer in Adobe Audition …

An idea

hi if i said I'd make a ghost image of a hard drive, ala - a standard .gho file for a NTFS partition, and the image I'd make it from would be a daw (that is, digital audio work station) = in other words it would be me cutting down xp pro down to only audio/internet use and then installing all the good sequencers out there, then putting a neat package of free (or erm, not by your choice) audio plugins which are categorized nice and neatly and then torrrenting it so that if you have say a blank 10gb ntfs partition you can simply *clone* it on and then just have the same audio setup. Of course you'll need to install your midi keyboard and/or sound card drivers and…

Seamless synthplay
by Guest meneedit- 8 replies
hey guys, for those who are electro-house fans (and i hope that there are at least a few here), you will be familiar with the technique of gradually increasing the release on a synth until the melody plays constantly/seamlessly. Lately I have been trying to accomplish this in Fruityloops but I have had no luck. Lets use the '3xOsc' as an example because that is what I am using to try this technique. The problem that I have is that once the release reaches a certain value the notes overlap each other due to the obvious fact that a new note is starting before the previous one has released. Now even if I use the decay to do it inst…

Hello, I have finally got my card and adapter for my Korg. Unfortunately, it's not going well. I stick the xD card into the xD into Smart Media converter/adapter and then I stick it into the Smart Media card slot in the ESX-1. The manual says to format the stick by going to Global and pressing Shift+16(card), but when I do that, it says No Card Error I put the card into my card reader on the computer and I tested it out by putting a bunch of stuff on there and it worked. What I'm thinking the problem maybe is that the adapter isn't going in all the way (it should because it went in all the way in my pc card reader), or that the xD card is 256megs (which I do…

I'm looking for a new audio interface for http://www.roland.com/products/en/FA-66/index.html any alternatives/experiences for this card. Basically what I want is: a cracking sound quality output on both the headphones and speaker end inputs that support general line in equiptment, electric guitar, mic something that has very low latency that won't rape my CPU (I take it most cards support ASIO now) and to not cause clicks and pops like it currently occasionally does using my Extigy w/ASIO4ALL (although for a >6year old card a solid 20ms total latency aint bad) So is there any benefits of firewire that'll be noticeable, and issues that people …

Starting a Reaktor tutorial series
by Guest ~Pd~- 4 replies

I'm starting a tutorial series on granular synthesis on my Reaktor blog. The first part - the instrument - is up now. I'll be posting part two of the tutorial later this week, which will feature an instructional PDF explaining the structure, and improvements and upgrades as I add them to the instrument. For starters, download the basic instrument and have a go at playing it. Dig in and see what you can understand. Anyone who's at all familiar with Reaktor should be able to make sense of it. If you can't, post a question on the blog.

Virtual Analog Sequencer?
by Guest LJG- 7 replies
- 2.7k views
So I'm wondering about a VA sequencer- a board with lots of knobs for controlling steps, length, pitch, repetitions, etc. Very much like the humongous voltage control sequencers, but to control midi synths instead. 1. Is there such a thing, and where can it be found; 2. Is there such a thing as a voltage control to midi converter so I could just use an analog one? (I know there are midi to VC converters, but I don't know if it works the other way 'round. Hope everyone is well.

I am having trouble deciding what to get. These are the choices ESX-1 or ER-1 + AE-1 or MC-303 I'm not sure if MC-303 is worth to get. I don't have much to spend and I would love to play around with ^. If you have a better idea of what I should get let me know.

What sort of soundwave or whatever is used to make the 808 cowbell sound? Cause, I mean, it's all analogue. So how would I go about making, like, 808 booms or snaps by myself?

Vocoders
by Guest meneedit- 6 replies

I am a big fan of the use of vocoders in music. However, I have never used a decent one and I would like to ask a few questions about proper vocoders: -Is there a such thing as a stereo vocoder? every one that I have used requires mono source files. -When looking at buying a vocoder am I better off going with a hardware or software vocoder? I'm just not sure on the hardware-software comparison with vocoders. -Can vocoders be used to just straighten out your voice if you can't sing? ...If so, please fill me in. Thanks to everyone for reading :smiling:

Another Dumbass Begineer's question
by Guest tbio2007- 8 replies

I use reason 4.0, but this question will probably apply to alot more software sequencers. To put it simply I don't know how to change individual tempo's, obviously there is a scroller that changes the tempo of all your patterns, but how do you do it with individual patterns? The answer is probably obvious I know.
