drum vst idea
by YEK- 9 replies
a program for playing live or at least a vst you could fool about in realtime for recording purposes. it plays a breakbeat , sample or midi? you hit a button and it rearranges it, break up the break. if your playing live and it's not crowd friendly you could press undo and it would resort back to the original break or the one before it. or you could hit rearrange again and with luck rearrange into other coolness. it's not really like glitch vst is it? this is a very simple idea and i got the idea watch an afx youtube video. he seems to do alot of gabba with awesome breaks that just keep going, like they could be programmed but i think there's more to it. is this li…

Not sure how many of you use Reason 4.0 or if you rate it or not, but if you do could you explain how you can create patterns with the Synth's on there? It seems to be built to work with Midi Keyboards, how important is it that I get one of these?

20k's saucy reaktor instruments
by Guest Twenty Knives- 1 reply

hey guys here's a couple things in the works over here: 20k reaktor patches if you have reaktor 5, please enjoy. the shotgun is a single osc bass monster, wicked sound & simplicity. the LSD builds off the same concept but adds more control and an extra osc and is notably more versatile while maintaining the same simplicity and warmth/thickness to the sound.

by Guest Max- 45 replies

Hello Urban Sound Creators, this is an invitation for a remix project on the recent metro 051 release, Thierry Massard's 'sube version', industrial sounds from the past, 1979. As a coop-release with the kreislauf netlabel, metropublik re-released the original tape-record of 1979, while kreislauf will be releasing the remix project. yesterday announced on the mailing list of monsieur massard we already have interesting acts willing to participate, for example Bazaar, ocp, Max Marlow as well as others. Please check it out. All kinds of ideas are welcome, the kreislauf label is known for having a great span of electronic music diversity. Entries are …

what soft synths does everyone use to write their tunes. ive been using a cracked version of albino, and also psyn II, but i was thinking about splashing out on one for real. is reaktor any good? im looking for a synth that has relativley thin textures, in my music i like to layer up many sounds at once, and i find that with huge beefy synths, it just doesnt happen. anyone care to reccomend anything?

Hey Everyone, I have a dilemma that requires some minor assistance from an elder with minimal knowledge of Voltage-Controled synths or electronics. I've been playing music my whole life and just made my first dive into the Analog (or Analogue) realm by purchasing a KORG PolySix! It just came, via FedEx, today and everything is in tip-top shape (to the naked eye). However, there was one small snafu that prevents my ears from doing the final touches (... and to all of you who are familiar with the PolySix: Yes, the internal battery was supposedly replaced prior to it's self-destruct, according to the seller). Read on (it's my frantic email to the seller)... …

Buying a Synth
by Guest TI-86- 4 replies

I've never owned a hardware synth before, but I'm thinking of buying one since I need a new keyboard anyway. I can usually run about 4 VST Synths at once until my CPU reaches 100%, however I'd like to be able to run more synths at once in a recording. I'm thinking that by using a hardware synth, I can free some CPU usage and also have a high quality keyboard. I was planning on just buying a Novation keyboard for around "$400" (all I really need), but the idea of getting a synth got my attention recently. Am I just giving into hype, or is a synth really worth the extra cash? I'm looking around $500-$600. I'm currently looking at the "Korg: R3" & the "Roland: …

the weirdest thing just happened...
by Guest hahathhat- 9 replies

like most people, my dreams tend to borrow from stuff i've seen, recently... and recently, i've been using cubase a lot. i used it this morning. i was editing a block of audio, taking segments and overdubbing them on another two tracks. i recall i playing it back as i tried edits out, pitch shifting some stuff, and moving audio around. the funny thing is, this was inside my head. i was lying in bed, in some weird hypnagogic state. i wasn't totally asleep, because i remember getting hot and pulling the blanket down. i wasn't totally awake, either. eventually i snapped out of it, was all... what the hell was that, and in that little lapse i'd forgotten what i was working on…

fft analysis

Alright lads I'm just investigating the possibility of using it to identify and and score overtones of certain sounds (e.g. a rich bell sound with lots of partials) in a totally instrumental (i.e. no electronics involved in performance) piece for soprano and ensemble. Ideally i'd like to bypass any study of algorithms etc. and just write the partials down to the nearest 1/4 or 1/8 tone. Does anyone know of some kind of standalone (freeware?) program that can quickly and accurately analyze a sample/ live audio feed and give frequency values for all the overtones? Translating these to pitches should be no problem with the use of a graph or chart of pitch vs frequency. …

Making Music... 1 2
by Guest FriendlyFire- 41 replies

... is hard when everything you produce is god awful. How do you keep at it? As a teenager, I spent about three years making electronic music. I'm 25 now, and have come back to it after a six year hiatus (was inspired after finding a few old demo's at my folk's place). I've been at it again for about a fortnight, but everything I seem to be doing is horrible. And now it's time for work...

I was at a friend's house and they had a Korg Kaoss Pad KP3 I guess these are old hat to a lot of people, but I hadn't used one before and it was a lot of fun. So before I cave in and buy one, I'm wondering: - is there a software equivalent (like an emulation of a kaoss pad) - are there any decent but similar alternative gadgets?

Seperating a single drum track
by Guest Hamsterizer- 6 replies
Hi there, I've got a recording of some live drums, mic'd up with four mics, but all mixed down to one track. About a year ago I saw someone using a vst pluggin on a simillar sort of track, which allowed you to seperate out the frequencies of each drum and play around with them. Does anyone have a clue what this might be, or know of a technique which might achieve simillar results?

Glitch - One Shots

I want to make some fucked-up one-shot samples and was hoping that -as I have limited gear, software, and no money- you could recommend some DECENT and FREE software... Thanks. Also, something that's relatively simple to get started with... N.B No, I don't have a mic or a field recorder. And no, I can't afford to buy them...
