I just moved house last week and my monitors are picking up radio waves. I have a pair of Wharfdale diamond-pro's plugged into my computer via an M-Audio hub. When I turn them on, they pick up radio waves.. some Bhangra Radio station. If I turn on the speakers without turning the computer on there's no interferance. It's only when I have the computer on. So I'm thinking it's the hub itself picking up the waves I found a similar problem here: http://www.techimo.com/forum/archive/index.php/t-7165.html Has anyone experienced this???

i got the amen from that bourbon breaks link ("the common breaks" thread), and obviously doesn't sound as you hear it on most commercial cd's (like squarepusher -the more new stuff, not "burningn'n tree" since it sounds awful- or venetian snares). there it sounds more clear (probably eq'd on the higher frequencies) and with more "punch" ("little" bit of compression). any tips on how to make it nicer? i've tried but... thanks

some would be able to guess what tune this is from, but what could make big beats like this? digital synths? drum machines with loads of knob fuckery and programming? or just good old compression and EQing.. and remember, this is not for everyone.. Wipeout should ring a bell

Help me get a break rolling
by Guest meneedit- 11 replies

I've been stuffing around with drums for years and I have learnt so many things about the practical side of drums. by the practical side I mean the purposes for each drum element. I make my beats from scratch (sometimes not entirely from scratch) I like to make breakbeats and I have got the basic fundamentals of the "ka-chika" sound down -hehe, that sounds so stupid :teeth: I am now at the stage where I want to be making nice breaks i.e rolling breaks. As many of you probably know, the only way to get a break rolling is to have something flowing/continous in it. I have however, had no experience with implementing long cymbals into beats. I've stuffed aroun…

Please help me find some instrument sample cds
by Guest meneedit- 2 replies

Harroooooooooooooooooo! I've come to the realisation that I am never going to own my own studio and have nearly every single instrument known to man (no joke, that's what I wanted to do), so instead I would like to do the next best thing. ...I want to buy some professional instrument sample cds, but to be more specific, CDs that contain individual notes rather than played music so that I can grab each note. I am going to feel so bad for doing it this way but I hope that these sort of cds exist. Could you lot please recommend some good sample cds? cheers, thx for reading

Okay this is going to be a naive post because in all likelihood this exists and is really obvious, but my experience is limited to fl studio and a small dabbling with other tools. First some back story to explain my thought process on this: In the last few months I started trying to cut up and sequence breakbeats for the first time. Nothing revolutionary, i just wanted to be able to do those kinds of drums if i wanted to. No need for anti-amen inflammation like that other thread thank you. I saw some video tutorial about how to do it in the fruity slicer, followed the instructions, achieved decent results. That's fine. Then one day last week I decided to …

first take a sample and pitch it up twice the speed then add reverb. after you do that bounce it then load it again and make it the original pitch. it's fucking rad, sounds kinda like hearing something massive drop in the middle of a coliseum

low fidelity as a composition tool

let's talk about the modern lo-fi fetish it seems to be inspired by old recordings of great music that was limited to and by that particular medium. that combined with some sort of disatisfaction with the cold and sterile nature of digital. i would think that at the time these artists were trying to survive all the imperfections and limitations of tape or whatever and not intentionally inject or amplify the imperfections in their mixes. what is it that makes people want their medium to have a voice (tape hiss, vinyl rice crispies, etc.) and not just the sound they've made from scratch? tape hiss and vinyl dust are really comfortable sounding noises, i can de…
